"Persevere with passion. Lead with kindness."
December 1, 2017

Dear Sweeny Families,

Our hope is that your family had a blessed Thanksgiving! It is so nice to be able to rest and relax with family! As we embrace December, as a leadership team we are working on filling others emotional bank accounts. Stephen Covey reminds us that relationships are like bank accounts...we make deposits and withdrawals. We have an emotional bank account with everyone we meet. Chris and I are working to make EBA deposits with our students and staff. Some of the ways you can make an EBA deposit is by writing notes of appreciation. Here are a few ways you and your family can make EBA deposits:
keep promises, do small acts of kindness, listen, and apologize.  Join us in making a deposit in your relationships today and every day!

Attendance Update

Sweeny's monthly goal is 96.10%

We did not meet our goal for the month of Novmeber but we hope to get back on track in Decmeber. With winter comes sickness and we will stress the importance of washing hands with soap and water to help prevent the spread of germs.

Sweeny Proud

We are so proud of 5th grader, Kinsey Owen! For her persuasive writing assignment Kinsey decided to think "win-win" for all students at Sweeny and write a piece that would share her opinions on "why every classroom should have plants." Her writing piece was presented to the Republic Lowe's and Walmart, and collectively these stores donated over 60 plants to Sweeny Elementary! Click HERE to see and read the full story.

Put First Things First

I n November students learned about Habit 3, Put First Things First. This habit means that you need to get your work done first then you can play.  Someone who puts first things first might say, "I spend time on things that are important to me. This means I say no to things I shouldn't do. I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow a plan. I am disciplined and organized."

At home, you can discuss with your students how they can put first things first at school and at home.
