This festive season, Cumberland Council is taking to the streets with town centre Christmas banners and large decorated Christmas trees as part of its Council wide Christmas program.
Some of these trees will play host to live Christmas performances and we invite you to join the award winning Holroyd Brass Band to hear your favourite Christmas songs at Town Centres across Cumberland.
The highlight event is undoubtedly 'Christmas in the Gardens' when the beautiful Auburn Botanic Gardens will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland on Saturday 9 December 2017.

Call out for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to inform Council
Cumberland Council is inviting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to become part of a consultative committee that will shape Council's policy, programs and service delivery for Indigenous Australians.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultative Committee (ATSICC) is a forum where members can discuss issues, provide advice and ensure Council decisions benefit Indigenous residents.
Interested participants can nominate themselves before Wednesday 6 December 2017 at Council's website under 'Have Your Say'. An information session will be held as follows:

Buzzing into Cumberland
Cumberland Council is looking towards a sustainable future, launching a Native Bee Hive Project, which last week saw five hives of stingless native bees installed around the area.
Australia has more than 1,500 species of native bees, 11 of which are stingless. The bee hives installed by Council contain Tetragonula Carbonaira, the only species of stingless bee native to Cumberland.
Once these grow we will be giving residents the option to have one in their own yard, promoting growth and support of gardens in your neighbourhood.

A free drop off event is being held at Auburn Baseball Club Car Park where you can dispose of household chemicals such as:
Solvents and household cleaners
Ammonia-based cleaners
Fluorescent globes and tubes
Paint products
Pesticides, herbicides and poisons
Gas bottles and fire extinguishers
Pool chemicals
Car batteries, motor oils, fuels and fluid
