Babies May Recognize Related Words
[Source:  Psych Central]

A new Duke University study finds that, by six to nine months, babies can already recognize that the meanings of some words, such as "car" and "stroller," are more alike than other words, such as "car" and "juice."

"Even though there aren't many overt signals of language knowledge in babies, language is definitely developing furiously under the surface," said Dr. Elika Bergelson, assistant professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke University.

Federal legislation aimed at providing tracking devices and resources to those with autism and other developmental disabilities who are at risk of wandering is moving forward.

School Psych Corner: Creating Safety & Attachment for Students w/Trauma
[Source:  Edutopia]

Many children and adolescents walk into our schools and classrooms carrying toxic levels of stress. They're on edge, and their neuro-anatomy is in a state of dysregulation, which drives their behaviors and makes it difficult for them to learn.

I recently traveled to Mississippi and met a number of young students in a primary classroom who brought these points to life.

SLP Corner: Lunch Dates in Speech
[Source: Activity Tailor]

Despite having parents that are nervous about their child pulled for speech during the school day ("I don't want them to be singled out."), I more often run into kiddos who don't want to stop.
