As you know, the current MetLife and VSP group dental and vision options are ending at the end of the year. We've worked with Delta Dental on a new option for all our members that are not active state employees to replace these benefits. You will receive information on the new plans along with your December invoice.
Please note that the deadline listed in the information to begin coverage is 1/1/18 so that you do not have a lapse in coverage.
Since all our members that currently have dental insurance have had coverage for more than six months, if their new plan starts January 1st or February 1st, 2018, SEBCO will verify previous coverage directly with Delta Dental, so that waiting periods will be waived. However, if members have had a lapse in coverage, there is a six-month waiting period for major services.
The dental plan we have been able to put together is very similar in benefits and rates to the Silver plan that we have offered through MetLife. Delta Dental also has the largest dental network in Arkansas, with over 1,100 dentists and specialists.
The vision plan is very similar to the vision plan we have offered through VSP in benefits and rates. The vision plan is only available to members also participating in the dental plan.
These plans will be enrolled directly through Delta Dental. This allows you to set up automatic monthly payments with Delta Dental, so you will no longer have to receive a monthly invoice and remit payment to SEBCO. Please note that since this is an individual plan, it is only available to Arkansas residents.
