2018 PLEDGE CAMPAIGN
"Loving our Neighbors as Ourselves"

Saint Matthew's has become a community hub of high quality music, world-class even.   This all started, of course, with the Jamestown Community Piano Associations concert series that we host every year.

This Piano concert series was started in 1999 by a local group of music lovers, many of whom were members of Saint Matthew's.  They raised the money to purchase the 7-foot Schimmel grand piano that sits in our sanctuary (pictured above).  Starting with the inaugural concert in November of 2001, Saint Matthew's has played host to over 50 concerts of professional and semi-professional musicians from all over the world.

Janet Grant of the Community Piano Association, writes the following:

"Sixteen years ago the newly purchased Jamestown Community Piano was delivered to Saint Matthew's Church.  For all these years, the church has housed the piano, allowed us to use the church - a beautiful space with wonderful acoustics - for our concerts, and opened its lovely reception hall for after-concert receptions so that the members of the audience meet the performers.

It is because of your community outreach and support that we can provide our concert series. We are grateful for the Church's generosity and greatly appreciate your support of our concert series.   Our heartfelt thanks to you and the members and staff at Saint Matthew's Church."

Thanks largely to the piano concerts and the wonderful acoustics of our space, Saint Matthew's has become a sought-after ven ue for other musi cal events.  We have  been regular host site for the Newport Music Festival, both for their regular Summer concert series and their new Winter series, which takes place only at Saint Matthew's (you may click on image below for their website).  We have also served as host for the Bridge Festival concert series, and numerous other musical events.

With our newly installed Allen digital organ and under the inspirational leadership of our Director of Music, Sherry Newman, beautiful music may be heard at Saint Matthew's on a weekly basis.

Your pledge of financial support helps enables Saint Matthew's to continue as a venue for great musical performance.
