Proceeds from the President's Gala contribute to the foundation's endowed scholarship programs that enables students in nearly every field of study to achieve their educational goals. Substance Abuse & Great American Smokeout
Student Health Services is encouraging students and staff to participate in the Great American Smokeout on Thursday, Nov. 16. The Great American Smokeout is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and encourages people to make a plan to quit smoking to reduce their cancer risk. A substance abuse resource fair will also be held on Nov. 16 on the quad from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Veterans Care Package Drive Ends Thursday
The Veterans Resource Center is calling on the Fullerton College campus and community to donate items to troops deployed overseas. Stop by the VRC during normal business hours through Nov. 16 with donations of clothing, food and snacks, entertainment and other items such as personal handwritten letters and thank you notes. A packing party will be held on Friday, Nov. 17.

Coffees with the Trustees, Chancellor
The college community is invited to attend the upcoming Coffees with the Board of Trustees and Chancellor. The coffees are informal and open discussions where guests may ask questions or just listen to the conversation. NOCE will host a coffee on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 3:30 p.m. at the Anaheim Campus, Rooms 105/107 and Cypress College will host a coffee on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1 p.m. in the CC Complex 414.
Banned Books Contest, 3 Finalists Selected
During the fall semester, the Library promoted an essay contest called the 2017 Fullerton College First Ever Banned Books Essay Contest to celebrate and promote Banned Books Week. Banned Books week is an annual awareness campaign spearheaded by the American Library Association that celebrates the freedom to read.

Growth Mindset Workshop Series Prepares Students for Finals
The Growth Mindset Student Ambassadors will host their third workshop series of the semester centered on the theme of preparing for finals. The workshops are held in Building 200, Room 224 on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. Students can RSVP for a chance to win a $10 Starbucks gift card. Lunch and Learn with Health Services
Health Services will present a Lunch and Learn session on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 12 - 1 p.m. in Building 200, Room 229. The session will feature a presentation from a representative of the Orange County Health Care Agency who will speak about prescription drug use and abuse. A free lunch is provided.
Careers in Cybersecurity
Join special guest speakers for a discussion on careers in one of the fastest growing industries: Cybersecurity. Cybersecurity involves protecting the information that is most important to all of us by preventing, detecting and responding to attacks. Students are invited to a great discussion of the threat landscape, job stability, and careers available in government and commercial enterprises on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Building 200, Room 228.
Library Finals Schedule
During the week of Monday, Dec. 4 through Thursday, Dec. 7, the Library will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. During finals week on Monday, Dec. 11 and Tuesday, Dec. 12 the Library will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with normal hours for the rest of the week.

Historically Black Colleges & Universities Transfer Guarantee Student Info. Session
The information session is scheduled 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on W
ednesday, Nov. 15 in Building 200, Room 229. Students and faculty are invited to come out and learn about the transfer guarantee program. The HBCU project director will be providing an overview of the program and various opportunities for our students. Please contact

Free 4-week Intro. to Sign Language Class Offered
Disability Support Services Interpreter Susan Carey will offer a crash course in sign language for students and staff. The class is designed to teach some basic signs and answer questions people may have about learning sign language at FC. There is no cost to attend and no materials required to participate. The class will be offered on Tuesdays from Nov. 14 - Dec. 5.

Evening, Weekend Services at the Transfer Center
In an effort to provide more evening hours, the Transfer Center will be open until 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13. In addition, Fullerton College English faculty will be on-hand to assist Transfer Center staff with personal statement reviews for the UC
application and Common Application. Personal statement review appointments are limited and an RSVP is required. The Transfer Center will also be open on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Football
The Hornets completed the regular season going an undefeated 10-0 on Saturday rolling past Golden West College 55-17 and capturing the SCFA Southern Conference title. Since Tim Byrnes took over as the head coach for Fullerton in 2008, he has led the team to 7 conference titles in the last 10 years.

Women's Soccer
Fullerton was edged out late in their Thursday afternoon game at home against Cypress 1-0. The game was scoreless until the 80th minute when the Chargers knocked in the game's only goal. Up Next: The Hornets await their fate for their first playoff game in over 10 years.
Men's Soccer
The Hornets took in to Cypress College on the road last Thursday 5-1.
Up Next: The Hornets wait to too if they will make playoffs.
Women's Water Polo
The FC women's water polo team lost in the playoffs last Thursday ending their 2017 season. It was a good season for the Hornets with many ups and downs for a team that fought hard every game.
Men's Basketball
The #8 Hornets handed the #1 Knights their first loss of the season winning the 34th Fullerton College Classic by a narrow score of 78-77! Fullerton went 3-0 in the tournament beating Chaffey 52-48, Mt. San Jacinto 77-61, and San Diego City. This year's tournament MVP went to sophomore Jason Richardson from Junipero Serra High School in Gardena.

Women's Basketball
The Hornets got their season going playing in the Santa Barbara Crossover Tournament over the weekend splitting their games. In game one on Friday, Fullerton lost a tough one at the hands of Moorpark 61-36. FC picked themselves back up on the second game on Saturday beating Santa Barbara 75-69.
