Heritage H.A.N.D.S. is hosting an Open Gym night at Heritage on Friday, December 8 from 6:00-8:00pm. Come when you can and let the kids play, enjoy some popcorn and socializing with other Heritage families!

Shopping Amazon this season?

 Just a reminder about earning money for Heritage as you shop Amazon this season. Simply log onto smile.amazon.com and shop as normal. The first time you log on it will ask you what charity you would like to support and you can select Heritage. For every qualifying purchase, Amazon will donate .5% back to Heritage. To date we've already earned $147.65 in donations!

We are looking for a lunch server to help out on Wednesdays starting in February. The time commitment is roughly 1 1/2 hours from 11am to 12:30pm. Serving lunch is a great way to get to know the students and teachers! If you are interested in helping out or would like more information, contact Brenda Wichhart, [email protected], 626-4777.

Attendance Policy Reminder
|
If your student is going to be absent for any reason, please make sure to inform the office by either a phone call or emailing [email protected] by 8:30am. It's helpful to also copy your child's teacher on the email so everyone is on the same page.

Just a reminder of a few items as we anticipate the possibility of snow and cold temperatures in the months ahead:
- NEW THIS YEAR: A text message via Parent Alert will be sent out to inform of a school closure or delay. If you do not currently receive these messages and would like to, please contact Brenda Wichhart with your cell phone information.
- When checking for closures/delays on local media, please look specifically for information on Heritage Christian School. While our decisions are often the same as Iowa City School District and Clear Creek Amana, they are not ALWAYS the same.
- Decisions to delay or cancel will be made no later than 6:30 AM. If it is determined that a late start is necessary, please continue to watch the news. If weather conditions do not improve, school will be cancelled by 8:30 AM.
- In the event of early dismissal due to weather or other emergency, parents will be notified through a text message via Parent Alert.
- Please make attendance decisions you are comfortable with. If you are concerned about traveling when driving conditions are poor or it is brutally cold, please make personal decisions accordingly.
- With a delayed start, please arrive between 9:45-9:55am. Classes will begin at 10:00am.
- When driving conditions are poor and school IS in session, we will not count students tardy allowing parents necessary travel time.
- Heritage Christian School does not close for cold temperatures.
- Please check KCRG, KGAN, KWWL, local radio AM 800 and the Heritage Christian School Facebook page for inclement weather information.

We are looking for more parent volunteers to help with our basketball program. Please consider signing up to help in the concessions stand or help with cleaning the gym on game day. All proceeds from the concessions stand goes toward improving the athletic program by purchasing equipment, and uniforms. The Eagles Basketball teams faced the INCA Patriots on Tuesday, November 28 in their first home game of the season. The 5/6th girls team started the night with a tough game against the Patriots, with a final score of 6-32. The Eagles 5/6th boys team took the lead early in the next game and were able to stay of ahead of the Patriots for a final score of 31-15. The 7/8th graders started the season with a nail biter against INCA. At the half, the Eagles were up by a few buckets. The second half proved to be intense with Heritage behind by ten points at 1:30 left in the 4th quarter. Despite a zealous comeback, the Eagles fell to INCA 51-54. Leading scorers were Sam Young, Adu Habte, and Kaleb Turnbough with a tremendous team effort overall. Thank you to our cheerleaders and fans who came out to support the Eagles on Tuesday! Way to go Eagles!
