What is Contemplative Prayer?

How does contemplative prayer differ from other forms of prayer?  Isn't contemplative prayer something that just monks do?  Can anyone do it?  How do I deal with distractions?

Elizabeth Korves, parishioner and Secular Carmelite, will respond to these and other questions about contemplative prayer at the next session of Being Faithful in Today's World, Sun., Dec. 10, 10-11 a.m. in the Church.
Advent Reconciliation Service
Mon., Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Church
Individual confession will be available following the prayer service,
as well as every Saturday in December from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Additional Ushers/Greeters Needed

We have a real need for Ushers/Greeters at the 5 p.m.Saturday and 11:30 a.m.Sunday Masses. Ushers/Greeters welcome people to Mass, coordinate the collection baskets, and ask people to bring up the gifts during Mass. This is a great way to meet other parishioners and demonstrate St. Austin's hospitality to visitors and guests. New Ushers/Greeters are asked to serve at least once a month. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Kristen Dempsey Pasyk.
Decorate the Church for Christmas!

Join us on Sat., Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. for a church Christmas decorating party!  Help us transform the Church for Christmas. Families are welcome, and lunch will be provided.
