"BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR" PROGRAM
Ornaments will be displayed on Christmas trees
Through Dec.15 at the Community Center
Sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care, this program has delivered more than 3 million gifts at Christmas nationwide to seniors who are in need. Locally, Home Instead Senior Care collaborates with MAC Area on Aging, Shore Up's Shady Pines Adult Medical Day Services, Worcester County Health Dept., Worcester County, Social Services & the Commission on Aging to identify seniors who are in need or wouldn't be receiving a gift for Christmas this year. Here's how you can help: Anonymously, the gift wishes of seniors are displayed on tree ornaments at the Community Center. "Santa" will pull an ornament from the tree & purchase the requested gift. The gift should be wrapped with the ornament tag attached & brought  to the Community Center. Volunteers will regularly collect gifts & refresh ornaments. Gifts will be delivered to the seniors Dec. 18-20.

Join us in supporting our local seniors during this time of year!
If you have questions, please call Home Instead Senior Care at 410.641.0901 or the Rec. & Parks Dept. at 410.641.7052.

Enjoy a hot cocoa as you admire the beautiful tree decorations, listen to local choir groups & welcome Santa Claus into town. Businesses, clubs, families, & individuals are encouraged to sponsor a tree & help light up the park. Groups that purchase a tree ($50) will have a sign placed at their tree as recognition for participating in "A Hometown Christmas." Trees range in size from 8 ft. to 10 ft. Sponsors are responsible for decorating their trees in the theme of their choice. All trees will be in place by November 24 for the ceremony on the 25th.

CRAFTER OF THE MONTH
Carol Quinto Carol acknowledges she has always had an interest in arts and crafts but was unable to passionately follow her crafting skills until she retired to Ocean Pines in 2004. She is a self-taught sewer who began making hand-sewn items to sell at the club's Artisan & Gift Shop located across from the Ocean Pines Community Center. She discovered machine embroidery severa l years ago and enjoys creating custom embroidery pieces. She has also developed a process for making glass and fabric decoupage plates. Although they are time-consuming, she is thrilled with how they turn out.

Carol is also a very busy member of the Pine'eer Craft Club. She currently holds the position of Shop Manager and is responsible for the management of the Artisan & Craft Shop. Over the past years she has held many responsible positions within the club and is co-chair of the Holiday Craft Fair.

To see the items Carol has created and those of other crafters in the group, visit the Artisan & Gift Shop opposite the Ocean Pines Community Center in White Horse Park.

The Pine'eer Artisan and Gift Shop welcomes all residents of Ocean Pines and the surrounding area to shop local crafts.
