The Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center

Join us for a tour and Q&A session at the newly opened Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center, the first of its kind, permanent supportive housing facility located in Jessup that houses 35 formerly homeless individuals and provides 'one-stop shop' walk-in services for up to 120 currently homeless people per day to receive services on their quest to self-reliance.
The Center is a community partnership between Volunteers of America Chesapeake, Grassroots, and several government agencies.

Regional Leadership Collaborative: Workforce Transportation

The first annual Baltimore regional Leadership collaborative will be an interactive learning and discussion program about regional workforce transportation. Expert speakers and panel discussions will be followed by the opportunity to collaborate in work groups with Leadership members from throughout the Baltimore region.
Hosted in partnership with The LEADERship Baltimore, Leadership Baltimore County and Leadership Anne Arundel County. Details and registration available in January. Space will be limited and open to Leadership program members only.

A "Coffee and Conversation" was held on December 1 for prospective applicants for the Leadership Premier program. Hosted by the Nonprofit Collaborative, attendees learned about the new Columbia campus for nonprofit and county services and the role LHC helped play in its creation.

HCPSS Seeks Citizen Members for Academic Calendar Planning Committee
The Howard County Public School System invites community members to help develop the 2019-2020 academic calendar as members of the Calendar Planning Committee.
Members of this committee attend six meetings starting in January to discuss and make recommendations to the interim superintendent for the 2019-2020 school year.

As one of its additional services to clients, Bridges to Housing Stability provides one-on-one employment counseling. Volunteers work with clients on resume writing/review, finding job skills to highlight, interviewing skills, online job searches and applications, and more. They are seeking additional volunteers with HR skills so appointments can be scheduled in a more timely way to help with clients who are homeless and are in urgent search of a job.
