The Accidentals

In New Work for Goldberg Variations, pianist Simone Dinnerstein brings her nuanced understanding of J.S. Bach's ambitious keyboard series together with rule-breaking choreographer Pam Tanowitz's witty and unflinchingly post-modern abstractions of classical and popular dance forms. Deconstructing formal and traditional movement vocabularies, New Work for Goldberg Variations converses with Bach's iconic score in a delightful interplay of rhythm, style, and idiosyncrasy, demonstrating the rich emotional world lying beneath the poised surface of the Goldbergs' musical architecture.
The Music of Zen

Founding member Mike Krisukas and the current instrumentalists of Zen For Primates gather again to present The Music of Zen For Primates, with Jodi Beder on cello, Shelagh Maloney on violin and Pete Fluck on sax & harmonica. The evening also features the original members of Zen, Mark Golin on violin and Dave Smith on sax. Joining them is Doug Hawk and other guest vocalists.

the Circle Band

It's a barnburner of a show in Jim Thorpe with John McEuen, the former member and founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, with his Circle Band, formerly and aptly known as the String Wizards. Guests include Andy Goessling, multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire with Railroad Earth, and the talented Caroline Doctorow. John and his unique cast of iconic Americana string wizards share the music and memories of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's incredible 50-year career and the landmark "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" platinum album, initiated by John.

Soloist Jordan Dodson performs with Elizabeth Mendoza on guitar and Astor Piazzolla on cello "The Grand Tango for Cello and Strings" along with "Variaciones Concertantes" by Alberto Ginastera and Joaquin Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" for guitar and orchestra.

At the Movies: "Marshall" is a powerful film about a Bridgeport, Connecticut, civil rights case in 1941 that was pivotal in the life and career of Atty. Thurgood Marshall, who in 1967 become the first African-American to be appointed to the United States Supreme Court. Director Reginald Hudlin handles the controversial material with care, emphasizing the human drama as well as the importance of the case in Marshall's career and in the Civil Rights movement. Chadwick Boseman is in the lead role of Thurgood Marshall. Paul Willistein of the Lehigh Valley Press reviews the Biography/Drama.
