Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:1-2 (NIV)

It is a beautiful thing to see someone set free from condemnation of sin when Jesus Christ releases them from the weight they carry. Many of us hold on to unnecessary shame and condemnation that is simply not from God. Let's continue to walk in the freedom that God has given us and pray that others will come to faith in Christ also.

We love how Bible Societies around the world are helping people discover this freedom in Christ Jesus, whether through translating God's Word for people to read, or through running courses to teach God's truth. People are being set free all around the world. Thanks for your part in this through prayer!
Tojolabal Translation, Mexico - Almost there!

Mexico Tojolabal dedication - Ruth & Esther November 2013
Many Tojolabal speakers came to the launch of the book of Esther in 2013. There is great anticipation for the full Bible.
For the last few years, we have been helping support the translation of the Bible into the Tojolabal language in Mexico. The first time we mentioned this work was in our Word at Work magazine in Spring 2016 - 8 years after the work had begun. It is with great anticipation that we now ask you to continue in prayer for the team working on the translation as they are now in the final stage of proofing and checking before beginning the work for publication.

One of the translators, Brother Demetrio López, took very ill during the work. He continues with medical treatment having lost his sight almost completely. His health has been improving but naturally, this has had a huge impact on his role. Please pray for continued and full healing for Demetrio. He has served faithfully to bring God's Word alive to the Tojolabal speaking people.

A vitally important part of a Bible translation project includes conducting audience reviews, making sure that the people who will be reading the Bible are able to understand the language easily and that the translation is clear. So the team are delighted that the community reacted very well with the reading tests that have been done. There is much expectation also around the plans to record the New Testament in audio.

Please pray that the final stages of the project will continue smoothly. Pray that the Bible will soon be available and that the expectancy of the people will continue to rise as they anticipate the arrival of God's Word in their heart language. Pray also that the New Testament can be recorded before the end of this year.

Rwanda's 'Good Samaritan' Project

Good Samaritan support group praising God together.
Good Samaritan projects exist to tackle the spread and stigma of HIV/AIDS through church-based programmes offering education and support in community groups and youth and children's programmes. Earlier this year, we ran a campaign to partner with the team in the Bible Society of Rwanda. Thank you for your support and prayers, so much is being achieved. Please continue to pray for this ministry and praise God for the many lives being impacted.

The programme is making impact in different districts where it is implemented where they have created anti-AIDS clubs, especially in schools. 23 Anti-AIDS clubs have been created in Kamonyi, Gisagara and Rubavu and other existing groups were reinforced with additional training. It is wonderful that trained teachers are getting opportunities to talk to pupils about HIV prevention. Praise God that many young people are being reached and helped and that people with disabilities are also being helped to take part in the training. Almost 9,000 people have been impacted through training, support and practical assistance this year through the Good Samaritan project in Rwanda.

Please pray that funding will continue, so that the goals can be reached and even surpassed. We love the vision of this project - to eradicate the stigma of HIV and to halt the spread of this disease and most importantly, to lead people into new life as they discover God. We know that with God, nothing is impossible. We know that with His Word comes life. When people open their hearts to Him, lives are changed, families are restored and healing comes.

Praise God that thousands of people have been impacted, that God's Word is being distributed, that people continue to be trained and that new groups continue to be established. Thank you for your part in this.

Mabaan Bible on the way to South Sudan for Christmas!

Edward Kajivora.jpg
Executive Secretary, Edward Kajivora outside BIble House in South Sudan.
The Bible Society in South Sudan has never had an easy time. This is very young, war-torn country where the Bible Society continue to work in the face of great trial. We want to share some wonderful news and ask you to join us in prayer and praise for what God is doing. Edward Kajivora is the Executive Secretary in the Bible Society in South Sudan and he has recently made a wonderdul announcement:

"It is indeed a joy to tell you that Mabaan Bible is on the ocean sailing to Mombasa. We are expecting to arrive the first week of December. We have secured the money for transport from Mombasa to Juba... [a few weeks ago] we met with Mabaan church leaders, the Chairperson, Vice Chair and Secretary (Sudan Interior Church) and discussed the launching of this Bible. They agreed that the dedication will be in Buny the heartland of Mabaan. Tentatively, the date is between 15-20 December pending on the arrival of the Bibles in the South Sudan.
"...Let us pray together for the coming occasion and the Mabaan people as this will be the first time for Mabaan people to have the saving word of God in their own language. Coincidentally, the Bible will be launched near Christmas thus, it will be a Christmas gift to the Mabaan people!   Please prepare to... glorify the Lord with us together."
- Edward Kajivora,Executive Secretary.

Praise God for this incredible achievement and pray that nothing will hinder the arrival of the Mabaan Bibles and that a glorious celebration will indeed be arranged before Christmas that will lift the name of God high and usher in new life in Christ for many Mabaan speaking people.

We have been partnering with the Bible Society in Sudan on another project this year ( see more here), so it is wonderful to hear what God is doing through the team.
