Mass / Formal Uniform Day
communion cup
Friday, December 8 , we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass. Our presider is Father Steephen Viblanc, OSMChaplain and Spiritual Director at Servite.

It is very appropriate that we celebrate this Feast of the Immaculate Conception as we do during the Season of Advent, when we are preparing to celebrate Christmas, because this Feast invites us all to stop for just a moment, so that we can reflect on how God prepared the world for the coming of the Savior in the birth of Jesus Christ two thousand years ago. During this Advent Season, as we refer to these three weeks before Christmas, we identify with the chosen People of Israel who waited so long and who did what they could to prepare for the first Christmas, when Mary of Nazareth gave birth to her son, Jesus Christ. On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we celebrate the wondrous moment when the Blessed Virgin began her existence in this world. We also recall Mary who accepted God's invitation to be the mother of Jesus, knowing all the risks. She was the first one to hear the Gospel and freely chose to accept it.

It is precisely in the midst of all of our practical preparations for Christmas that the Church invites us to try to slow down in order to prepare ourselves spiritually for our celebration of Christmas. We thank God for the essential role that Mary played in bringing Jesus Christ into the world.

Mass begins at 9:25 a.m. This is a formal uniform day.

Galaxy of Stars Planning Meeting & Silent Auction Donations
super heroes ideas

coffee ideas
art supplies ideas
Please join in the fun, and help with the "Galaxy of Stars Dinner & Auction." Our next meeting is Monday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m.

We have some exciting plans... new ideas for live and silent auctions and the opportunity drawing. We still need to fill some key positions on the planning team. If you have artistic skills, we need help with decorations and basket assembling/wrapping. If you are a great wordsmith, we need help writing descriptions for the auction items. We will also need help the day of the event with transporting items to the venue. So far, we have only had a few volunteers and we need more help!

We are counting on help from the Connelly community to fill up our silent auction baskets. Please see the images on the right for some ideas for the Tiffany Blue themed basket, the Coffee basket, the Super Hero basket, and the Artist basket. If you have some items that you would like to make or donate, please label the items "Galaxy" and drop them off in the office. We are accepting all donations, not just the examples shown here! We need donations by early January so we can start assembling the baskets and advertising on the website. To date, we have not seen any donations come into the office except those items donated by a few volunteers on the committee. We need to start receiving donations as soon as possible.

Some ideas for helping with the Galaxy of Stars donations: email friends and family and see if they would like to donate; ask local businesses that you frequent if they would like to support Connelly (we have donation request letters for this); while doing your Christmas shopping, see if there are items that you could buy to add to our auction baskets.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Showalter , Galaxy of Stars co-chair.
