Leopard Life Skill for December - Curiosity
Now that November has come to an end, we have concluded our focus on "Gratitude." Students have learned that gratitude is about much more than just saying, "thank you." It encompasses the broader idea of appreciating and being satisfied with what you have and helping and serving others. Our students have such generous hearts and we're always amazed at how they actively participate in efforts to help others. This year we raised over $1,000 for ACO through their contributions to the Caring Coins drive for ACO. Thank you for supporting your child in practicing gratitude by sharing the "Lovejoy love" with those who are in need.
We are beginning a new Leopard Life Skill for the month of December. "Curiosity" will be our next focus, and students will learn that it means "a strong desire to explore and learn new things by asking questions and searching for information." We want our students to learn that there is wisdom in wonder, so we will be encouraging them to use their imaginations and natural curiosities to learn more about our world and the things around us. Our hope is that by asking questions and being curious, students will realize we can learn more, become more enlightened, and begin to notice things that are interesting, mysterious, and exciting. This goes right along with our Leopard Life Skill of having a growth mindset by embracing opportunities to learn and grow. Click here to view a great article about "10 Tips to Help Develop Your Child's Curiosity," and you can find it at: . It is a short article with some practical ideas for fostering "wonder" in your child.
You may also find more information about the nine character strengths, skills, and mindsets on which our Leopard Life Skills. Click here to view. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions. Thank you for helping us develop curious minds in our little leopards!

Reminder! Fourth Grade Recorders
4th grade music students at Lovejoy will learn to play the recorder. You can pay cash or check to Lovejoy Elementary or purchase online at https://lovejoy.revtrak.net
If you already own a recorder, it is not necessary to purchase one through the school . However, I would like to caution you against purchasing an instrument from a discount retailer.
