Saturday Bird Walk & Bird Count − November 25, 2017
Sunny and cool. 45°F. 2-6 mph. 14 participants.

Girls Rule! At least that is what I was told to say (Tower of Jello). All kidding aside, we had the

opportunity this morning to study many female ducks which can be very similar in appearance. Take a look at your field guide and study female ring-necked ducks, lesser and greater scaup, redheads, and canvasback to get an idea of the challenges.

Black-Capped Chickadees have always been one of my favorite birds. It seemed that they kept

me company when I was walking through the woods as a child. They always appear to be happy, with their delightful chatter and bouncy flight. At this time of year, my family always makes a wildlife tree in the backyard filled with edible ornaments for the birds. The peanut butter pine cones are always a favorite with our chickadees.
