Chamber delegates visit D.C., advocate for your business 
This month the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) leadership and staff traveled to Washington D.C., with a delegation of representatives of Arizona's business community. During this trip, the delegation met with officials from President Trump's administration, members of Congress and the U.S. Chamber. The delegation discussed key federal issues impacting Arizona businesses including health care, tax reform and trade. VP of Public Affairs attends US Chamber Government Affairs conference
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce held their annual Regional Government Affairs Conference in late October in Chicago, IL. The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce's Vice President of Public Affairs, Mike Huckins, attended the conference with other public affairs professionals from local and state chambers of commerce. 

The conference provided a platform for chambers of commerce to collaborate on issues impacting business communities across the nation, such as infrastructure, tax and health care reform. The conference highlighted the need for all chambers of commerce to engage in political action on behalf of their membership. With city councils and state legislatures trending more and more partisan, the responsibility lies on chambers of commerce to ensure the voice of business is heard loud and clear. 
Chamber named leader of the year
The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce has been named a 2017 Leader of the Year in Public Policy in the "Business" category by The Arizona Capitol Times. Honorees were named for their work, either as an individual or an organization, in advancing public policy that positively moves Arizona forward.  

Chamber releases 2018 Public Policy Guide for upcoming legislative session
The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce's Public Affairs committee has released the 2018 Guiding Principles. The guiding principles act as the framework for the positions the Chamber takes on key issues at the state capitol, the county and city hall. The principles, which have been drafted and approved by the Chamber's six issue committees, Public Affairs Committee and the Board of Directors, represent the policies and perspectives of the business community. The policy guide is the Chamber's roadmap to effectively influence government policy through advocacy on behalf of the Chamber's 2,400 member businesses.

The New Year's just one month away and the start of the 2018 legislative session isn't far behind it. As the policy community prepares for another session, the Chamber is proud to once again host the best way to start session. This year's Legislative Kick-Off Reception is on Jan. 11, 2018, and it's the first party of the year that you won't want to miss!

Get to know city leaders at Council Connections on Dec. 15
Interested in learning about how the City of Phoenix is working for business every day? Looking to interact with city leaders and council members? Then join the Chamber for Council Connections on FridayDec. 15, 2017. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from city leaders and meet with Phoenix City Council members about specific topics facing city leadership and the business community.
