Grace---St. John the Baptist---Volunteer Week A

Dear St. Isidore Families,
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
I hope you all had a restful break! We say good-bye to Thanksgiving and hello to the Christmas season! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year here at school, however, it’s also the busiest! We have lots of fun events planned this month, so remember to check the weekly newsletters and school website for upcoming information.
First Trimester Report Cards go home today. It’s important to review them with your children. Think of a report card as a conversation starter, a way for children to talk about how they’re doing in each area, what’s easy or difficult for them, and how you can help them do better. Report cards need to be signed and returned by Thursday, November 30th (tomorrow!).
Advent starts Sunday, December 3
rd
and ends Sunday, December 24th. Our theme this year is “Open Your Heart.” Celebrating Advent enhances Christmastime and allows you to prepare for the coming of Jesus. Attending mass gives you the opportunity to quietly reflect on your relationship with God. Please join us for an all-school mass this Friday, December 1,
st
at 8:10 a.m.
Our Students of the Month for November/December have been announced! Congratulations to first grader Jamie Nimmo and seventh grader James Carney! We celebrate your efforts to uphold the gospel and school values in your daily life. Here is what their teachers said about them: “Jamie is new to the school; however, he is a friend to all and always shows love to his classmates and teachers.” “James lives in kindness to others, is willing to help without being asked, and always invites new people into his group.”
Find plenty of holiday cheer next Wednesday, December 6th, at the students’ Christmas Boutique. For details about this annual event, check the Christmas Boutique section of the newsletter. Without doubt, this is one of the students’ favorite days of the year, and your support of this event is appreciated.
If you have not yet purchased your Sip & Shop ticket, now is the time! This fabulous event is the perfect opportunity to mingle, shop, and celebrate the season. Bring a friend—we welcome anyone who likes to shop. Tickets can be purchased on the website. In support of Sip & Shop, next Tuesday, December 5th, students are allowed to wear red or green tops with jean bottoms.
On a side note, some of you may have noticed the construction by the big toy near grades 1-4. This work was needed to repair the heaters in some parts of the school and should be completed this week.
Sincerely,
Maria Ward, Principal
St. Isidore School

Raising children in today's busy world can be complicated. I wanted to share an interesting article I recently came across that discusses the importance of a child's social skills. This 19-year study reveals Kindergarten students with these 2 skills are twice as likely to obtain a College Degree (and they have nothing to do with reading).
