Early Friday Dismissal after school care from 2:30-3:30
Early Friday dismissal ( 2:30 PM) begins today,  Friday, November 10.

There have been requests from some parents for after school care on Fridays from 2:30-3:30. (Daycare goes till 3:30 on Fridays during early dismissal as well).

If you are interested please let the office know. The cost would be no more than $140 per child ($10 x 14 weeks of early dismissal).  Depending on ages of  students and how many sign up will determine the type of program and cost that is offered.

Pre-school Petland Field Trip
Pre-school took a field trip to Petland to learn about caring for animals as part of their Parsha unit on Noach. Thank you to Morah Miller, Morah Corinne and Morah Mickaela for arranging this trip.






Grade 6 YouthLink Field Trip
Grade 6 students went on an amazing field trip to YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre  as part of their Science and Health Units. They helped CPS solve a crime using forensic science and learned valuable lessons about cyberbullying and online safety. 

Thank you to our Parent Volunteers Yehuda Ortega, Jodi Goldstein, and Adina Shimonov. Thank you to Ms. Filewich for planning and organizing the units and trip and to  Rabbi Goldenberg for going as well.

Thank you to our older students who have volunteered to help kindergarten students get their winter gear on to go out to recess! It is wonderful to see our students helping each other!

Hallway Upgrades
If you have entered the school recently, you may have noticed areas which are much brighter! Many thanks to Enrique for upgrading the light fixtures to LED energy efficient bulbs. Thank you to Mrs. Juliana Wolfman for raising the funds and to all the donors who have helped donate to this project.
Alumni Campaign
If We are looking for volunteers to help update our alumni list with email and postal addresses. It can be done from the comfort of your own home at a convenient time for you. It helps if you are an Akiva alumnus or grew up in Calgary but it is not necessary.  If you are available to help please let the office know.
Student Council Program

Adult Child Learning
Motzai Shabbat Adult Child Learning begins this week Saturday Night November 11 and will continue till the end of January. It takes place each week 20 minutes after Shabbat ends at House of Jacob for half an hour. Come study Torah together with your children for 20 minutes followed by refreshments and a ten minute story. Bring your own materials to study or use the books and materials that will be provided. For adults and children of all ages.

UJA Cell-a-Thon
If you have not participated in a UJA cell-a-thon this year we ask all families to participate at least once. We also encourage every family to donate to the campaign. Even a small amount to show our appreciation for Federation support to our school.
