Today is KGOU's final airing of To The Point with Warren Olney. As that show transitions away from a daily broadcast toward a weekly podcast, KGOU will have a schedule vacancy to fill. Fresh Air with Terry Gross will fill the 2 p.m. Monday-Thursday time slot beginning next week, but will also remain in its current 7 p.m. slot as well.

Another program change is coming to the weekend schedule: The Retro Cocktail Hour will replace Backstage Jazz on Sunday nights at 11 p.m. We think KGOU listeners will enjoy this offbeat musical exploration of the weird and wacky. And lastly, we'll make a slight adjustment to our local news programming: the Journal Record's Business Intelligence Report is moving to Wednesday's newsmagazines instead of Friday's.

Mustafa Ahmed was two years old in 2004 when he lost his leg in a U.S. air strike in Fallujah, Iraq. A nonprofit brought him and his father to the U.S. temporarily for medical treatment and the two formed friendships in America. When Fallujah later fell under ISIS control, Mustafa's American friends feared the worst.

In memory of fallen colleagues David Gilkey and Zabihullah Tamanna, NPR received a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for international video projects. NPR's video team, the International Desk and Jane Arraf, NPR's correspondent based in Cairo, crafted this video report about Mustafa and his journey.
