Fire Chief for a Day
Fire Chief Jerry Peach of the St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) passed over control of the Department to Kate Gibbons on Thursday, November 9.

Kate is this year's winner of the annual SJRFD Fire Chief for a Day contest.
Chief Gibbons was picked up at her home by a SJRFD fire truck on Thursday morning and driven to school to discuss fire prevention before visiting fire stations in  St. John`s, Mount Pearl, and Paradise. The tour concluded in Paradise, where she met with Mayor Dan Bobbett at Paradise Station No. 8.
Operation: Recess
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), with help from the Town of Paradise, and other municipalities in the region, have launched Operation: Recess. This Operation is aimed at reducing highway traffic act violations in and around school zones by enforcing a zero-tolerance policy. Working with the Town's Municipal Enforcement Officers, the RNC will have increased patrols in the four school zones in the Town: Paradise Elementary, Holy Family Elementary, Octagon Pond Elementary and Elizabeth Park Elementary. The public can expect that police will use covert enforcement measures as well as overt measures such as LiDAR and RADAR for speed enforcement in Town school areas.
Remembrance Day Ceremony
The 2017 Town of Paradise Remembrance Day Ceremony takes place at the Town  War Memorial (28 McNamara Drive) on Saturday, November 11. All are welcome to join as we honour the sacrifices of our Canadian soldiers.

The Parade of Flags begins at 10:30 a.m. with the official ceremony starting 10:55 a.m. The Ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Paradise Double Ice Complex. For more information, please contact the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services at 709.782.6290.
Remembrance Day Closures






There will be delayed openings for all Town recreational facilities on Saturday, November 11 due to the Town Remembrance Day Ceremony. Facilities will open at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, at which time regular operations and rentals will resume.

Town Hall will be closed on Monday, November 13 in observance of Remembrance Day. The Paradise Double Ice Complex, including the Fitness Centre and Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre, will be open for regular operations.

Residents are advised that Garbage and Recycling Collections will go ahead as scheduled on Monday, November 13.

Budget Consultation
The Town wants to hear from you as part of its budget process!  On Tuesday, November 13 our online budget survey will be available on the Town website. Residents may also email feedback, or drop off comments to Town Hall. The input we receive will help us to prepare the upcoming budget and plan for 2018.
Town Christmas Parade Float Entries
Calling all organizations, groups and businesses! The Town is now accepting float entries for our Annual Christmas Parade. The paradise is scheduled for Sunday, December 10. Any group interested in getting inv olved is encouraged to  email or call 782-6290. All parade entries must be registered before Friday, November 24. Please note that before entering the parade, you must show proof of individual insurance. 
Town of Paradise Council Meet and Greet
The Mount Pearl Paradise Chamber of Commerce is hosting a networking opportunity to meet the Paradise Town Council. The Council Meet and Greet will be an informal opportunity to get to know more about each elected member and meet new friends. There will be no formal presentations, just great conversation! The event takes place on Thursday, November 16 and runs from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Charlie's Steakhouse & Bar, 978 Kenmount Road.
