Marymount Complex Open

Though the tell-tale sounds of Ballston construction are still ringing in our ears, a calm has settled at the corner of N. Glebe Road and Fairfax Drive. The "new side" of the Marymount complex is finally complete and open for business.

The first portion of the complex features a multi-function, 9-story academic building. The first six floors house Marymount's School of Business Administration and other select offices, as well as training rooms and an auditorium available for public use. The top three floors are currently available for lease to outside businesses. While this portion of the complex has been open since the start of the fall semester, Starbucks opened its doors to the public at the end of October. Ballston employees and residents can now get their caffeine fix from the iconic coffee shop and lunch from the cafeteria-style, Eat Café, both located on the ground floor of the academic building.

Just across the outdoor courtyard and green space stands the Rixey, a luxury apartment complex with 3,000 sq. feet of retail space on the ground floor. Named for Dr. Presley Rixey, a Ballston native and personal physician to Presidents William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt, the new apartments feature a vintage Americana aesthetic, and the mustachioed Doctor himself as a welcoming mascot. The feel of the apartments was  inspired by Rixey and his home, Rixey Manor which became known for its exceptional design, and for hosting some of the most glamorous parties of the time.

Residents of the Rixey will enjoy the same luxury and exclusivity that made Dr. Rixey a main figure in D.C. society. The 15th-floor rooftop offers views of the Washington Monument as well as a clubhouse, lounge, spa and sundeck. Other amenities include a fitness  center, bike repair station and fire pit. Studio and one-bedroom or two-bedroom units are currently available for lease.
