DRIVER'S ED CLASS OPPORTUNITY
Newton Driving School will offer a class for US students at Beaver this winter . (Students must be 15 years nine months by Dec. 5.)
  • The class will meet from 6-8 p.m. at Beaver in room 215. There are 14 class sessions starting on December 5 and ending on February 6. 
  • The cost is $650, which covers all classes, driving hours, and the parent class.

WELLNESS ASSEMBLY: ADOLESCENCE IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Last month, the Parent Association hosted a wellness assembly featuring Dr. Jill Walsh. She shared a lively, thought provoking and informative presentation with nearly 100 parents representing every grade. There will be a follow-up presentation to delve more fully into the topic. Read more.

HARVESTFEST RECAP
BVR's annual Harvestfest was a huge success! All Beaver teams won their contests. Under the lights, Zach Herman '19 scored a game-winning goal with just over a minute remaining to beat LCA 1-0. The athletic contests were accompanied by cider donuts, warm apple cider, brick oven pizza trucks, and a tremendous amount of spirit, pride, and enthusiasm. MEET THE FALL CEO'S
Students in the entrepreneurship elective spent the term learning the different facets of the startup world and developing ideas for new and innovative companies. Five ideas were voted the best in class. Led by a student CEO, these ideas will be pitched to a panel of venture capitalists and entrepreneurs on "Shark Day" (November 15). Read more .
ALEX COHN GRANT PRESENTATIONS
The  2017 Alex Cohn Grant  recipients, Craig Ackerman ’18 and Ian Emery ’19, presented on their work to Upper School students. With the funding, Ackerman used arduinos to attempt to create the world’s lightest functional exoskeleton while Emery built a professional-grade rowing vessel. ANNUAL FUND UPDATE
As a part of this year’s Annual Fund, co-chairs of the faculty + staff campaign Lesley Colognesi and Lisa Brown set out to beat their previous year’s record of 95% participation. In just five days, they beat their record with 99% faculty + staff participation. Lesley shared, "we are so lucky to work at Beaver, and this campaign is a wonderful way for us to show our support of the school!"
MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC EXHIBIT
The first Middle School music exhibit is coming up on Thursday, November 16 at 6 p.m. Students are excited to showcase what they have learned thus far in their music ensembles. Combining film footage, instrument demonstrations, open rehearsals, and performances, students share the process of learning how to play an instrument with the audience.
HARVARD MED SCHOOL PROGRAM
S eniors in Anatomy and Physiology are in the final stages of the  Harvard Medical School MEDscience  program. As part of the program, students travel to HMS every Friday to learn about different medical skills and procedures and to perform medical simulations. US Science teacher Kim McCabe updates us on their experiences week-by-week. See their progress so far.  Read more .

We're excited to have Ivan Espinoza-Madrigal on campus this morning to speak to students, answer their questions, and engage in conversations about race and identity. Ivan is the Executive Director at the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice, and he represents civil rights issues, including racial justice, immigrants’ rights, and LGBT/HIV equality.
