Did you know?
Catholic Memorial High School is inviting students in grades 1-8 to audition for the Winter Musical Nice Work If You Can Get It. Auditions will be this Saturday, December 2nd from 8am-12pm in the CMHS Auditorium. Rehearsals will be Saturday mornings from 8am-12pm (no rehearsals over Christmas break), and performances are in February. All are welcome, no experience necessary. For more information, email the musical director, Mr. Chris Andacht.

O Come Little Children will be on Sunday, December 10th from 10:15-11:45am in the Parish Life Center (PLC - school cafeteria). We hope you can join us for this fun-filled tradition of singing Christmas carols, gathering to make a craft as a family, decorating cookies, and hearing the Christmas story.

Breakfast will be served as we celebrate this Holy Season with friends both old and new. All ages are welcome!

Much more information about things going on in our parish and Lifelong Faith Formation department can be found in our  CONNECTIONS NEWSLETTER.   If you would like to be added to this list to receive this twice-monthly newsletter, email Angie.

November 28, 2017
From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! Now on to Christmas! The month ahead will be a busy one - in school and out. Hopefully we can keep our children focused on what Christmas is really all about!

Advent will begin next weekend. As is our usual custom, we will light the all-school Advent Wreath to begin our Monday mornings. This year's Advent theme for the parish is "Grateful, Generous, Growing". The school Christmas tree will be set up in the main lobby - with nothing but lights this year! Our "Kindness Tree" will be decorated when acts of Grateful, Generous, or Growing are performed. These actions can be witnessed here at school or at home. If you are particularly proud of an act that your child has done please let us know! We want that plain old ordinary tree to come alive with Kind deeds! Feel free to send a note with your child or call the office - we will make sure that no deed goes unnoticed! I firmly believe that kindness breeds kindness - we need to witness and celebrate these acts!

Blessings,
Mrs. Ellen Knippel
School News
MUD! It's Time for Snow Gear!
Oh, the weather outside is... pretty okay, actually. However, muddy shoes are becoming a problem in school.  Please send in full winter gear (boots, hats, mittens, scarves, and snow pants) in a separate bag every day starting now. Snow pants keep the mud off too - and your child will be prepared when the arctic winds start to blow!

Culver's Night - Teachers Serve, TONIGHT!!
Dine at Culver's on Grandview Blvd. between 5-8 pm on Tuesday, November 28th, and 10% of your purchase will be donated to our school! Ms. Zahn, Mrs. Baggot, Mrs. Hofbauer, Mrs. Ziegler, and Mrs. Knippel will be there to serve you!! Out-of-Uniform passes for Dec 1 will be given to everyone who attends, inside or drive thru - be sure to ask!  Scrip will be available for purchase at the restaurant.

Birthday Blessing Mass, November 29th
At the 7:45am Mass, students with November
birthdays will process in with Fr. Tony and be called forth and blessed after communion. Students receiving the birthday blessing may "dress up" on this day (no jeans, shorts, or sweat pants please!).

Wonder Movie, November 30th
Students in grades 3-8 will be attending the Wonder movie on Thursday. We have had a few calls about additional parents attending. Unfortunately, the tickets are in limited supply and we are unable to take additional chaperones. For those of you new to the school, the children's novel Wonder by R. J. Palacio was one of our school's summer book reads a couple of summers ago and was our theme for the 2015-2016 school year. We highly recommend it!

Pajama Drive, Now-December 13th
Our Student Government is organizing a pajama drive this holiday season! The pajamas will benefit children living in shelters. Please bring in a new pair of pajamas of any size by December 13th! For every pair of pajamas we collect, Scholastic will donate a book to give to children in need of a warm and reassuring bedtime. If we collect 75 pajamas, we will have an all school pajama day before break!

Emergency Help Needed
St. Hyacinth food pantry did not receive their shipment of protein for December.  They are in desperate need of tuna. Any donations of tuna would be greatly appreciated!  Send them in to us and we will get them to St. Hyacinth.

Mission Wear Day, December 8th
The Immaculate Conception Holy Day Mass will be at 8am on Friday, December 8th. Students should wear their Mission Wear shirts with uniform bottoms. A 7pm Mass is also offered for this Holy Day of Obligation.

Hot Summer Slice
Please help us make Hot Summer Slice 2018 even better! Take a few minutes to complete our 2017 Hot Summer Slice survey. Let us know what a great time you had, what went well, what you'd like to see improved/changed and if you didn't attend, is there a reason we should consider in planning for next year. Your feedback is important to us and the success of this event. Thank you!
