Dorothea Maetzel is currently working as Senior Scientist at Northern Biologics, a young Biotechnology company in Toronto trying to develop antibodies for the treatment of cancer. As an advisor of the German Academic International Network (GAIN), she helps promote the importance of mentorship for fellow researchers.

Work alongside Nobel Prize Winners
A study by the German Rector's Conference and DAAD found that German universities employ over 40,000 researchers. This includes PhD students who are often employed by their institute, earning between 1,000 and 1,400 Euros per month, allowing them to completely focus on their research - exchanging ideas with Nobel prize winners included.

UAS7 (Seven German Universities of Applied Sciences) invites students who are currently enrolled in Canadian and U.S. colleges to apply for the Study and Internship Program (SIP). Successful applicants will be eligible to study for one semester at a UAS7 member university or receive a short-term internship placement at one of our university laboratories. Successful applicants are automatically considered for the UAS7 Travel Scholarship of 1,000 EUR to cover transatlantic travel expenses. For further information, please visit
