Dear KMS parents,

Thank you for sharing additional questions.  Here are more details for your students' return to campus on Tuesday, October 10.  Students will receive more instructions from their teachers tomorrow.

1. What should my child bring to school?
Students should bring their regular instructional materials to school (writing utensils, paper, folders and lunch, if appropriate). Teachers will instruct students if other items are needed. Not all students will have lockers, but all students will have a designated place to store their belongings.

2. What if my child left items at the school?
All band instruments have been moved from KMS to the appropriate new location. For items that remain in the lockers, parents may enter the building between 4:00-6:00 pm this evening to retrieve them. Otherwise, a system is in place for student items to be delivered to their new building assignment.

3. Does my child need their PE uniform?
Students are not expected to wear their Physical Education uniforms. The Physical Education teachers may discuss dress options with the students this week.

4. Will my child eat with their grade-level peers?
Yes. KMS students will eat with their respective grade levels. 8th graders at KHS and 6th graders at KIS will have a regular lunch offering; 7th grade students will eat at the same time but have more limited choices.

5. Will my 8th grader take the PSAT on Wednesday as scheduled?
No. An alternate day will be selected. Parents will receive notice when the rescheduled date is confirmed.

6. Will there be a change to school transportation?
Regular bus routes and times will continue as previously scheduled. A shuttle system will be in place to transport all students to and from all the school sites.

7. Where and when is drop-off if a parent chooses to drive?
Students can be dropped off at the same time as usual.

At Gardiner: Parents will enter the main drive from Bainbridge Road, loop around the parking lot and exit out the same main drive.

At KIS: Parents will enter the same drive as used at KMS. Follow the lane towards the stadium and turn left between the second row of cars. Drop off is at the end of this row in front of the KIS main door. A faculty member will be present to assist.

At KHS: Parents will use the same process in place for KHS and drop off students at the main door loop by the flag pole.

8. What is the status of afterschool activities?
Computer Club, Art Club and Big Brothers/Big Sisters events will not be held this week.  Advisors will communicate to participants details about future meetings and location.

KCE events are scheduled at alternate locations. Please check the website or the digital displays in the buildings for these changes.

Middle School athletics, Science Olympiad and Robotics will continue as scheduled but at alternate times and location. Details will be communicated by coaches.

9. Will Picture Retake Day be rescheduled?
Yes. The new date will be communicated with parents as soon as it is confirmed.

Please note this important CHANGE. The first quarter grading period will end on Friday, October 20, 2017 and NOT Friday, October 13th, as noted on the calendar and in a previous communication.

I will continue to provide updates as students return to classes.

Sincerely,
