FEATURED EVENT: Unity Assemblies
Last week, nationally-renowned public speaker Keith Deltano delivered his powerful anti-bullying message to students during assemblies held at every middle and high school. Using humor, straight talk, and relatable stories, Keith described scenarios that are all too common in students' lives to illustrate his central point about the importance of being kind to one another and not judging or excluding people based on their appearance or your perceptions about them. He also held two parent sessions where he talked about "bully-proofing" your child by ensuring they have confidence, competence, and a strong sense of identity; building their resilience and coping mechanisms; and by filtering electronic devices. Building Relationships: Help Me!
The HSD Needs Assessment revealed that one of the biggest challenges for students was asking their teachers for help. Check out this great resource to gain a better understanding of the reasons why students may not ask for help, and to get some tips for removing those barriers. View in presentation mode for best results.

Attendance Monitoring
We all know the first step in learning is showing up to learn! When students aren't attending, a phone call from a caring adult can make a difference. Here are some scripts you may find helpful as you make those calls. Calling parents can be intimidating, but remember that everyone wants to know their child matters and that they are missed when absent from school. Start with a heart of care and you can't go wrong!.

HSD Mobile App and Statewide Tip Line Provide Reporting Options

Through our mobile app, HSD has had a mechanism for reporting tips for the past four years. Those tips are written in the app and delivered to District administrators via e-mail, either anonymously or with the option for a response. Now, there is another way people can submit tips on a range of safety topics through text, e-mail, web portal, or phone. Called SafeOregon, this new school safety tip line program has been activated for every school in HSD. Click here to learn more.
