If you didn't get the chance to come to our kick-off September meeting with guest artist Mark Ludy, you really missed a fun, engaging, exciting presentation. We had to find more chairs for the folks who kept coming in to join us.
L
AG has an exciting year coming up with lots of hands-on activities, mini shows, art swaps,
and fantastic guests artists. Check out the schedule in our newsletter and website. Don't
forget about our new starting time: 5:30pm - 7pm. I think we will really appreciate this
earlier time when we set our clocks back.
Very important: Don't forget to re-new your LAG membership, due NOW. The application can be found on our website (
click here), at the Great Frame up and at our meetings. Download it and send it in right away. Our next year membership dues are going up (to keep up with rent increases, more advertising and bigger prizes for all) so join now while the cost is the lowest. Happy Creating,
Susan Steven

Sad News...
Charlie passed away after the meeting Wednesday night after saying good bye to all his friends. If you would wish to put a little notice in the newsletter that would be fine.
He was a great supporter of plein air painting, the arts and a good scratch behind the ear. Remember how good he looked in a bow tie at all the openings.

Mini Art Show
Wednesday, October 11th -
5:30 pm Meet & Greet
Activity begins at 6:00 pm
Great Frame Up (430 Main St. Longmont)
This month's meeting will be an Artist Social, Art Swap & Mini Art Show with an Activity: Texture
Rubbings, looking at texture in a new way, with Nancy Champion. Nancy will share how to use
everyday materials to capture texture in the art process called "frottage" or rubbings and share a
finished quilt using the technique. Creating rubbings on light weight papers, tissue paper and fabric or
canvas can be art starters and cut and applied to other surfaces.
To participate, please bring the following if you have it (we will have limited supplies to share):
- Sketchbooks or light weight paper to work on, or fabric.
- Art tools to create rubbings: pencil, graphite sticks, colored pencils or sticks, crayons or oil pastels (great on fabric)
- A small snack to share is appreciated!
ART SWAP!
Bring your gently used (or new) unwanted art items to swap with someone who can use them! We set up a table for the items to swap! Please remember to take back any items that were not swapped!
MINI ART SHOW
Bring one of your recent creative pieces! We will have a popular vote for a winner who gets a gift card prize! Any type of art is accepted and paintings do not need to be framed! This is a small show to share your work! Oh, and MINI doesn't mean "small," it's just a small show!

Be part of a great market for a good cause.
Accepting Studio and Guild Submittals Now!
For over 40 years the Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District Auxiliary has sponsored Boulder Mountain Handmade Market to raise funds for our fire district. Funds from the event provide equipment, training, and provisions for our volunteer fire fighters. We hope you'll consider participating - and share this information with other artisans you know.
Our Market is well-known for its focus on handmade and original items created by visual artists, crafters, photographers, potters, jewelers, and fiber artists, as well as specialty food and beverage makers from across the foothills area. This year's event will be held at the Elks Lodge on 28th Street, one of Boulder's largest in-town event spaces.
We invite area guilds, studios, and art organizations to join us by reserving a space for their members to exhibit their work.
For more information, please visit our
website!
