PTSA NEWS
DOES PTSA NEED YOU?

Greetings everyone.

Thank you to all who came and participated in our October 3 rd, taco dinner general meeting. Thanks to Michelle Lee and our many volunteers for setting up this event. Our Principal, Tara Gray, spoke about expectations of the school and grading.  She invoked an interactive session on the subject of Parent/ student/ teacher conferences.  The school is interested in creating a better model of this event for better outcomes for students.

It was a great opportunity to express our opinions and be heard by the administration. Surprised? Don't be, that's the kind of stuff that happens at our ISPTSA general meetings. Plan on attending our next General meeting on November 28 th to participate and hear from Tara again.

Does PTSA need you? Interestingly enough, I heard these comments the other day from a parent who did not plan on joining PTSA, "PTSA does not do much for me" or when considering a dual membership, " my spouse doesn't volunteer or participate." PTSA is not your professional organizations like a realtor networking group or professional engineering group or a software networking group. Those kind of groups are supposed to support you in your career, or in your hobby.

PTSA is unique; it supports your child in school with enrichment and academic support AND it supports the school community. During the 7 years while you are at IS, each PTSA member will have supported students in every single grade with enrichment and academic support. Each PTSA member will have belonged to this community along with your student. Each PTSA member will have made a difference. Thank you to the over 440 parents and guardians and teachers and students that have committed to IS for another year. Community creates Success at IS. .... Yes it Does

OUR MEMBERSHIP IS GROWING, GROWING, GROWING

Thank you to all the parents and teachers who have stepped up and become a PTSA member this September and October. Our goal is 100% or 580 members and we are now 75% of the way there. Please check out our membership list and see of you have any IS friends that are not on the list. Please encourage them to join.
Community Creates Success at IS is our theme and we believe in it. Bellevue PTSA Council gave a shout out award to International PTSA for already getting over 5% of last years membership. Parents or guardians names:

NEW PTSA TRAVEL TUMBLERS

ISPTSA is selling these wonderful tumblers this year. These are dual wall insulated stainless steel tumblers with our new ISPTSA logo. They carry 14 ounces of liquid, cold or hot, with a swivel lid with drink thru opening with plastic ring seal to stave off spills. The cost is $17 for PTSA members and $20 for non-members. Cash check or charge( only in person).

You can buy one or more of these tumblers at our General meetings this year BUT we are working on having the tumbler available online. Stay tuned. If you would like to purchase a tumbler, send in a check to IS PTSA 445 128th Ave SE Bellevue WA 98005. We don't have the means to ship them now, but they can be picked up at the main office after purchase.
