Peter's Pantry for over 27 years has provided food at no charge to those who can use a little help. The pantry sends trucks daily to food stores and food businesses that donate their excess food items. Peter's Pantry is a designated recipient of Feeding America, which is another resource for food. The pantry operates on an all-volunteer staff and distributes over $2.1 million worth of product annually. Every $1 donated generates over $20 worth of food. Join the "Miracle of Sharing" - volunteers are needed six days a week. Come join us!

The Salvation Army has now transitioned from Coats for Kids to our Christmas Toy Drive (Toys for Tots). Many of the locations that had coat boxes will have the toy boxes available. We accept only NEW items for Christmas. Donations - whether items or monetary - can also be made at our office located at 415 N. 6th St., Manitowoc. Toys will be distributed December 12-14 to qualifying families. We also want to thank Manitowoc County for helping gear up over 1,400 children for winter!

Manitowoc Public Library (MPL): It's been said everyone has a great novel inside their brain. But, how do you get that novel published once it's on the page? At 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 1, in MPL's Balkansky Community Room,  authors and editors Sharon Verbeten and Melissa Gorzelanczyk will discuss this topic, including finding a writing niche, revising your work, querying agents and editors, and learning the "Dos and Don'ts" of successful writing. Lakeshore Humane Society: Halloween is lots of fun for kids, but many dogs will be confused or upset by strangers in costumes coming to their door. Dogs may chase or be excited by costumes. Here are some tips for dog owners at Halloween - Disconnect the doorbell and watch for trick-or-treaters. Secure your dog behind a closed door or in a crate. Give your dog a stuffed Kong or other hollow chew toy. Play music. Close drapes. Keep your dogs (and cats) indoors around Trick or Treating time.

City of Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Department is offering Pickleball. These are drop-in classes and Punch Card payment. Players need own paddle; ball is provided. Dates, times and days vary. Tuesdays and Thursdays, now through April 5, 2018 - 1:00 - 3:00pm; Sundays, November 5 - December 17 - 4:00 - 6:00pm; and Wednesdays, November 1 - December 27,  5:30 - 7:30pm.
