Player Spotlight

Slater Koekkoek
Tampa Bay Lightning
This month's player spotlight is on Manotick, Ontario native, Slater Koekkoek. Slater entered the 2012 NHL Entry Draft as one of the draft's top defensemen. It didn't take long for the Peterborough Pete to be selected, as the Tampa Bay Lightning claimed the young defender with the 10th overall pick.  Slater returned to the OHL for the next two seasons, before entering professional hockey in 2014. Slater has since split time between the Lightning and their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.
On 12-Oct-17, Slater enjoyed a career milestone, scoring his first and second NHL goals in a 5-4 victory against the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
