Executive Director Update
The Michigan Historic Preservation Tax Credit was an important tool to drive economic revitalization and leverage investment in historic properties throughout Michigan. That credit was eliminated in 2011, but Senator Wayne Schmidt has introduced legislation to reinstate it (SB 469). Link to the bill

It's not too early to secure your room for the 2018 convention. AIAMI has secured a block of rooms at the Hilton Midtown which is the AIA headquarters hotel. More
here about the hotel. If you are interested in reserving a room with the
AIAMI block follow this
link. You will be asked to enter your information. You are responsible for making your reservation, updating and cancellations. The rate is $389 per night. There are other rooms available on the 2018 convention site
here.
Component Updates:
- New product supporting EPs seeking licensure. The AIA is launching a CONFIDENTIAL new product in 2018 and we are seeking registered architects to act as subject matter experts to assist with the development. Dedicated and passionate individuals who can volunteer 15-20 hours can contact the AIA Center for Emerging Professionals for more information.
- Be sure you're covered. If your component is insured by The Hartford (for fire, premises, P&C, etc.), your policy may soon be cancelled. The AIA Trust Business Owners Program through CNA Schinnerer offers customized solutions to meet your component's needs. Contact Kevin Collins at (301) 951-5412 or call (888) 867 9327 for a quote. For more information on component insurance, review the insurance primer here. For more information about Business Owners coverage for your component office, click here.
