Remembrance Day 2018

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians are asked to pause in memory of the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives in military service.

As we approach Remembrance Day, our thoughts turn to the brave soldiers who died while serving, enabling us to enjoy continued freedom. Let us spend some time during this holiday praying for fallen soldiers and their families. Soldiers are asked to make the ultimate sacrifice. It takes an incredible person to face the possibility of war and death, especially a death that will save the lives of people they have never even met. It is difficult to imagine the world we might live in without our soldiers, for they have indeed changed our lives and given us the greatest gift of all - the freedom that comes from their sacrifices.

A Call For Deep Healing and Peace

We are deeply aware of the tragic cycle of continuing violence around the world. As we each find our own way through the complex maze of inner feelings, it is useful to know that we are not alone in our struggles or in our hopes. Even as tragedy and suffering have occurred to so many people now and throughout history, there have also been passionate insightful voices calling for peace and healing. Below is a very special prayer to hold dear in your heart.

When I despair,
I remember that all through history
the ways of truth and love have always won.
There have been tyrants, and murderers,
and for a time they can seem invincible,
but in the end they always fall.

Think of it - always.

Women Wage Peace

Women Wage Peace is a movement of Women of diverse political, religious, ethnic, social and geographic background - a grassroots movement which is growing rapidly and  has 24,000  supporters in Israel and 33,000 foreign based supporters. The movement was born out of deep despair and cynicism which followed our most recent war in Gaza (Operation Protective Edge 2014), in order to rekindle hope in a viable future for our region.

This movement works throughout the country to raise awareness and engage the public in a discussion about the feasibility of a political resolution. It creates opportunities for dialogue with individuals and groups through formal and informal meetings within the community. The movement also organizes national events, such as demonstrations and protests, in order to pressure decision makers to work toward reaching a viable peace agreement.
