The Recreation Department serves all City of Albion residents and residents who reside in the immediate surrounding areas.
New Session: Water Aerobics classes will begin on September 19, 2017 and run for 6 weeks ending October 26, 2017. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Classes are held at the Albion Community Center pool located at the Marshall Opportunity High School 225 Watson Street. You can register @ albion.recdesk.com There is a $30.00 fee for this class.
The Recreation Department will offer the following Open Gym Opportunities:
- Open Walking: Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Beginning September 19, 2017 @ Albion Community Center. No Fee
Play Right Basketball Academy: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 -6:00 p.m. This program is for all students, boys and girls in grades 3rd-8th and will run throughout the school year. The Academy is offered in partnership with the Battle Creek YMCA. Milton Barnes is the Program Director. There is a $10.00 per month FEE.
Adult Open Gym (Basketball): Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Beginning September 19, 2017 @ Albion Community Center Fee-$1.00 per session
Open Gym-Grades 5-8 Monday from 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Beginning September 19, 2017 @ Albion Community Center Fee-$1.00
Open Gym-Grades 9-12 Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. Beginning September 23, 2017 @ Albion Community Center-Fee $1.00 Play Right Basketball Academy presents: "MIDWEST ELITE MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL COMBINE" on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 for 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys at the YMCA of Battle Creek Multi-Purpose Center, 182 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek, Michigan. The Recreation Department is looking for "Volunteer Coaches" in the following areas: Youth Basketball Grades K-6 You must have a knowledge of the sport and an ability to teach children the fundamentals of the game. It is the desire to have people who have participated in the sport at least at the high school level. You will have to complete an application and pass a criminal background check.
