This Friday, November 3rd kicks off Denver Arts Week!

Denver Arts Week is an annual celebration of the arts throughout the Denver metro area and 40 West Arts District is ready for some fun! We've got so much going on for 'Know Your Arts First Friday' THIS Friday November 3rd. Highlights include Pirate: Contemporary Art holding their annual D ía de los Muertos celebration, the opening reception for C2 Gallery's new mercantile space, and holiday gifts galore at both Lakewood Arts and Gallery of Everything. Check out details below! Things kick off at 5pm with many locations open until 9pm or later.

Colorado Gives Day is Coming Up!
Colorado Gives Day is around the corner on Tuesday December 5th. This annual statewide movement works to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving and 40 West Arts is one of the many wonderful non-profit organizations with a giving profile online. You can donate now through December 5th and every single dollar helps. If you don't give to us, give to someone. Colorado Gives makes it easy. 
40W Gallery 2018 Exhibition Schedule
The 2018 exhibition schedule for 40 West Gallery has been finalized. Check it out here (and on our website) and plan your year with 40 West Arts. Please note that our district-wide Art Walks will occur in March, June and November of 2018, to coincide with Lakewood's week of INSPIRE and Denver Arts Week. Thanks to all of the volunteers, artists and members who provided feedback and helped us build our calendar for 2018!

Volunteer Art Curator
40W helps to place artwork in partner locations like restaurants and libraries and needs someone to coordinate the process. It's about 1-3 hours per month.
RIOT VI Volunteers Needed
RIOT VI Fast & Furious is coming up Friday December 8th and we always need willing hands. Shifts are only a few hours in length. Setup and tear down are especially needed. 

Gallery Greeter
We need help staffing the 40 West Gallery during exhibitions. You could pick up one shift a month or a few shifts over the course of a year, during normal exhibition hours.

Dia De Los Muertos, Nourish
November 2: NOURISH, a Day of the Dead Inspired Evening

This event, located at  Pure Colorado  Pro Event Center will feature a six course gourmet vegan dinner including oyster mushroom ceviche and Mexican fire chocolate cake, intentionally curated music, fresh fruit and kombucha cocktails, networking with Denver influencers and face painting. Tickets will sell out for this incredible experience so buy yours today.
Oct 31: Sprout City Farms Haunted Harvest Fest
Head to  Mountair Park  Community Farm from 3:30-5pm for a Halloween festival complete with art-making activities, mural painting, yarn art and a costume parade with Molholm students from the school to the farm. All are invited and costumes are encouraged at this kid and family friendly event! 
Nov 1: Visiting Artist, Scholar, Designer Series
Up next for VASD is Sondra Perry and her lecture, Chromatic Saturation, which takes place in the Mary Harris Auditorium on RMCAD's campus (doors open at 6 and the talk begins at 6:30 pm). Perry's work dives into the tools of moving image production to examine representation and what it means to make images.
Nov 4: Music Lesson Expo at Rockley Music
Meet teachers, try out instruments and take a sample lesson at this music lesson expo hosted at Rockley Music. This long-standing West Colfax business is one of the best places in the Denver metro area to buy instruments or learn to play. Head over between 2-4pm for this fun event.
November 16: Learn more about the ArtLine at our 3rd Thursday Brown Bag Lunch

Every Third Thursday of the month 40 West Arts hosts a brown bag lunch from 12-1pm. It's a chance to pop in and learn more about what's happening in the district. Our November meeting is all about the 40 West ArtLine, a four-mile walkable, bikeable art route. See selected art and murals, learn about the upcoming launch party and ways to get involved, see a route map and more. Please note, Third Thursday lunches are held at Pure Colorado Pro Event Center & Kitchen (7110 W. Colfax Ave.) and there will be no meeting in December.

Nov 6: Aroma Flow at Container Collective Yoga
November's Aroma Flow is based around gratitude and seeing the gift in your obstacles. Obstacles in life can seem overwhelming and frustrating however they lead us to brighter, stronger versions of ourselves. This month's Aroma Flow will help you see the blessings in the obstacles in your path.
Nov 15: West Colfax Community Association Meeting 
Join the WCCA every Third Wednesday of the month from 7:30-9:00am for a meeting about everything happening in the West Colfax corridor. You'll hear updates and always learn something new. Click here for details. Please note, there is no WCCA meeting in December.
Dec 1: EDGE Theater Opening, Resolutions
The EDGE is committed to new and original works and have commissioned local playwright Josh Hartwell to write a different kind of holiday story. In a season of Christmas Carols and Wonderful Lives, you will find only one show about ringing in the New Year! Find details here.
