Sustaining Spiritual Well-Being: Retaining and Changing Practic (For Family / Friend Care Partners)

Many people living with dementia develop a strong interest in collecting or hunting and gathering things of interest. Those around them can find the acquiring and accumulation of “stuff” to be both frustrating and problematic. This session will provide insight into the collecting behaviors and suggest options for coping with this challenge without out-and-out warfare!

Objectives:
  • Review common symptom related reasons that people tend to collect or hunt and gather things of interest or concern
  • Discuss four common care provider approaches to hoarding/collecting behaviors
  • Compare typical care provider reactions to collecting and PAC strategies that result in better outcomes
