Dear St. John Paul II Families,
The end of the semester is here and I think everyone will agree that these last few months have definitely brought many challenges to our community. Earlier in the fall, I mentioned that difficulties often are an opportunity for us to share Christ’s love with one another, and I continue to be humbled by how often I see this within our special StJPII community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your constant prayers and support of one other. We are so blessed to be able to give, even now during this season of Advent.
Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, so I leave you with this prayer from our patron, St. John Paul II:
O Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, grant to our homes the grace of loving and respecting life in its beginnings, with the same love with which you conceived in your womb the life of the Son of God. Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair love, protect our families so that they may always be united and bless the upbringing of our children.
Our hope, look upon us with pity, teach us to go continually to Jesus, and if we fall help us to rise again and return to him through the confession of our faults and our sins in the sacrament of penance, which gives peace to the soul.
We beg you to grant us a great love of all the holy sacraments, which are, as it were, the signs that your Son left us on earth. Thus, Most Holy Mother, with the peace of God in our consciences, with our hearts free from evil and hatred, we will be able to bring to all others true joy and true peace, which come to us from your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
Lastly, we are looking forward to celebrating this Friday with Mass, Caroling, and Class parties! All students may wear Christmas attire! Remember, Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m., and dismissal will be at 12:00/12:15/12:30.
I wish you a blessed Christmas Season as we pray, wait, and anticipate the birth of Jesus!

Annual Fund
Thank you to all those who have given to the Annual Fund thus far! We are blessed by your generosity. Please consider making your gift before year end to maximize your tax deduction and/or corporate matching programs.
We recognize that not everyone will be able to contribute this year, so we need those who can, to prayerfully consider doing more. With fewer donors and greater need, it is imperative we not only meet but exceed our Annual Fund goal.
Every donation, no matter how small, truly makes a difference! To give online, please visit:
www.jp2.org/give. For more information, please contact Development Director,
Jessi Cook.

Middle School Athletics
The Saints boys’ basketball teams closed out the 1st half of their season with two tough opponents playing St. Cecilia and St. Francis de Sales. Our JV and Varsity teams played hard but the Indians and Valiants proved to be too much in the end. We are holding two optional workouts for our boys middle school teams Wednesday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 29 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. here at StJPII.
On the girls side our Varsity, JV, and 6
th
grade teams were all victorious in their games against St. Laurence and St. Vincent de Paul! Varsity now stands at 6-1 in district, JV is undefeated at 6-0 and the 6
th
grade team is 4-1. We are very proud of the hard work and determination from all 3 teams with these huge wins! This past weekend our JV and Varsity Lady Saints basketball teams participated in the Houston Christian HS Basketball tournament. The JV girls played tough both offensively and defensively against Holy Spirit in their 1
st
game but came up short taking a loss. But they played even better and stronger in their 2
nd
game against St. Mark Episcopal with a nail biter finish, sealing the win at the free throw line with Sabrina Nino sinking 3 shots in a row to take the win! Varsity had a bye in the 1
st
round of play, and took a huge win in their 2
nd
game against Grace playing extremely well displaying great basketball skill which then put them in the Championship game that they held the lead the entire game to win the Varsity Championship! We are so proud of our Lady Saints!!!!!
Our 1
st
Lacrosse clinic for the boys will be on Saturday December 17
th
from 2:00-3:30 p.m. on the SJPII field. Coach Hewitt will start with fundamentals and basic knowledge of the game.
We look forward to seeing you out there!
There will be a Volleyball Camp that is open to all 5th-7th grade girls on December 27-29, from 9:00– 11:00 a.m. in the BAC. Improve your technique with 2-6 hours of fundamentals and game play. For more information, please see the
