WAY TO GO! Three Santiago High School Cavaliers have been selected to perform in the 2018 Tournament of Roses Honor Band and will march in the 2018 Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year’s Day. Antonio Gonzalez, Vincent Rodriguez, and Phuong Vo, were among 600 students vying for coveted spots in the prestigious band. Way to go Cavaliers! Click here for more information.

OCDE Honors GGUSD Teachers with Magical Recognition Dinner
Three GGUSD teachers were honored at the 2018 Orange County Teacher of the Year awards dinner hosted by the Orange County Department of Education at the Disneyland Hotel on October 24. Carrillo Elementary School teacher Carlos Primiani was one of six Orange County Teacher of the Year finalists, and was featured in a special video recognition (included below) and honored on stage with Minnie and Mickey Mouse. Carrie Lankford from Fitz Intermediate School and Jenny Jurgemeyer from Hare High School were among 62 celebrated teachers from across Orange County. The event is sponsored by Schools First Federal Credit Union and featured musical performances from students, teacher highlights, and all of the magic of Disney.

Too Cool for Drugs

Students at Eisenhower Elementary School wore bright, neon colors and sun glasses to show that they are too cool for drugs. Students across the district participated in fun dress-up days to take a stand against drugs during Red Ribbon Week.
Taking to Technology

Garden Grove High School students in Mr. Henninger's Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles class were fully engaged in a recent lesson about technology concepts required in 21st century careers.
Finishing Strong

Last Friday, Doig Intermediate School scholars were found fully engaged in their AVID class and committed to finishing the week strong.
Mental Health Matters

GGUSD hosted a mental health and suicide prevention meeting for parents last week at Pacifica High School. Thanks to all who made the event a success and to our room of committed, caring parents.
