For I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me drink,
A stranger and you welcomed me,
Naked and you clothed me,
Ill and you cared for me,
In prison and you visited me.  Matthew 25

Dear friends,

Happy Thanksgiving!

With those two simple words, the Season of Giving begins. But wait - should it be the Season of Giving? This coming weekend's Gospel tells us "Amen I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me". How does this Gospel speak to you? Do you look for ways to feed the poor? Give drink to the thirsty? Welcome the stranger? Cloth the naked? Care for the ill or infirm? Visit the imprisoned? - Not just during this season - but all year long.

I am proud to be part of a school (and faith) community that literally has Service as part of their Mission Statement. St. Anthony on the Lake School makes an effort to find monthly activities to serve - both globally and in our local community. This month we sent care boxes through Operation Christmas Child. We (along with the Family Program) filled Thanksgiving Boxes for the House of Peace, and the faculty will be serving breakfast at the Hope House. The message is (and should be) loud and clear - serve others!

This week of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for...

A faculty and staff that is dedicated to the growth and well-being of every child!

Students that inspire me to be a better principal

Parents that support their children and school

A faith community that supports our school both prayerfully and financially

A God that loves me - no matter what!

The smell of pumpkin pie, the excitement of being together, the laughter-- I love the Thanksgiving holiday and am really looking forward to having my family together. I pray that your days ahead are filled with family, joy, gratitude and rejuvenation. I look forward to seeing all the children back at school on Tuesday, November 28 (Monday, 11/27 is a teacher in-service day).

Blessings,
Ellen Knippel, Principal

In everything give thanks;
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
