Nantes, France

Including exhibitions of Provençal treasures:
Piqué de Marseille, Boutis, antique attire, and conferences about Provence's textile heritage.

Dozens of fiber artists and designers from around the globe: Shizuko Kuroha, Kumiko Nakayama, Mary & Joe Koval, Willyne Hammerstein, Sachiko Yoshida, Pamela Goecke-Dinndorf, Max & Louise, and many more!
France, Fabric, and Friends!

Who's ready for a fun French getaway? Fly into lovely Paris and take a train to Nantes for the Spirit of the South quilt show, April 25th - 28th. Then take the train to Provence to join Michelle Chenevez and Caroline Lecomte for a Boutis Retreat!

May 1st - 6th, 2018

Michelle has been studying Boutis and other Provencal traditions for 20 years, and can't wait to return to her childhood home to share what she's learned with all of us!  Boutis (which means "stuffing"), describes how two layers of fabric are quilted together with stuffing sandwiched between sections of the design, creating a raised effect.

Thank you to the Centre Pieces Quilt Guild for hosting Mary as a speaker this July!

Our hearts go out to all those affected by natural disasters in the past few months. Here at Mary's Quilt Shop, we are always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need! So when Texas was tragically flooded in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, Doris wasted no time in coordinating the donation of baby quilts to Sew Special in Houston.

Ryan's Case for Smiles is dedicated to helping children with life-changing illnesses feel better to heal better. They  are a charitable organization that makes pillowcases for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Your participation in this outreach is encouraged. We have local groups that gather and sew. If you don't sew we need cutters and other helpers. You can also make the pillow cases on your own and drop them off at the shop.

Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.

Traditional breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, sweaty, and uncomfortable; they typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets, and can't be worn for weeks after surgery.  However, Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful, and take the shape and feel of a real breast - just place in a regular bra!

Special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those who request them. Join in to help connect volunteer knitters with breast cancer survivors! There is a huge demand for Knitted Knockers that can't be met by any one group, but together we can do it!
