Lighten Up!

A Note From Pastor Linda

From Philippians 4: Rejoice in the LORD always- again I say REJOICE!

Advent Greetings,

Last Sunday the focus of the gospel lesson was on preparation, and on making ready for the King of Kings: Expecting Jesus- the Miracle in Our Messiness. The emphasis was on making a "clean sweep" of everything in our lives that the separate us from God in order to BE READY! As we prepare for the Third Sunday of Advent marking the half-way point in this Advent Waiting Season it's time to
LIGHTEN UP!

This is the JOY Sunday- and at Hosanna we will be experiencing the JOY of The Nativity- told in story form accompanied by songs of the season! The Hosanna Choir, the Bells, the Children and the entire congregation will lend their voices- along with a StoryTeller- bringing the old, old story ALIVE.

INVITE friends and family to join you on Sunday; to pause, to breathe, to lighten up and experience the JOY of the season. The Nativity Story (by Julie Vivas) will be told at both the 9am and 10:30am worship times. The Upper Room Coffee Shop will be opened and the Youth will be selling Christmas cookies as a fundraiser for their Youth Gathering trip this summer. There will also be a few items left from the FMSC MarketPalce to finish off your Christmas gift giving- these proceeds benefit the 2018 Lakes Area MobilePack.

Waiting and Wondering in JOY!
 ~Pastor Linda

PS- Thank you! 2018 Giving Cards continue to come in. If you have not had the opportunity to return your Giving Card- it is not too late!! Giving Cards are available at Hosanna.

Book Club

Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger
New Bremen, Minnesota, 1961. The Twins were playing their debut season and ice-cold root beers were selling out at the soda counter. It was a time of innocence and hope for a country with a new, young president. But for thirteen-year-old Frank Drum it was a grim summer in which death visited frequently and assumed many forms. Accident. Nature. Suicide. Murder.
Discussion date:  January 8 at 7pm

Dispelling the Myths and Misconceptions About Hospice Care
Wednesday, January 10, 2017

On Wednesday, January 10 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm the Befrienders Group will be conducting a training on Hospice Care. Hospice Care is designed to provide specialized support and comfort during an advanced illness. The purpose of this training session is to help clarify the patient services that Hospice care offers so that you and your loved ones can benefit from hospice care.
Here are a few facts you may not know about Hospice:
  • The earlier you receive Hospice care, the more opportunity there is to stabilize medical conditions;
  • Hospice care can be paid for by Medicare, Medicaid or most insurance ;
  • While in Hospice care you may choose to continue aggressive treatments for the purpose of symptom management
