Program Spotlight

We Heart Welaka: December 2
Camp Welaka is a magical place where Girl Scouts of all ages can enjoy the beauty of nature and the fun of being outdoors. During this program, participants discover what has made Camp Welaka special for many generations of past campers. Here is a sampling of the type of activities that are in store for you: canoeing on Lake Akalew, archery, a treasure hunt hike, tasty treats made on a campfire, designing a nature-inspired memento, giving back with a camp-inspired service project, and so much more. Registration is open to all Girl Scout grade-levels. See the flyer here. To register, click here.

Registration cost: $18 per girl; $10 per adult. For more information, contact Customer Care at customercare@gssef.org.

Volunteers are needed. Please email customercare@gssef.org if you are interested in volunteering.

NU2U Council-led Troop Camping: Two Programs
Is troop camping brand new to you? Maybe you've been interested in taking your  troop camping but don't know where to start. Whether you want to learn or troop camp with expert guidance, NU2U is perfect!

NU2U is a brand new outdoor program and your chance to go troop camping with our volunteer pros! Register now for an expertly guided one-night troop camping event at Camp Welaka.

Leaders can see the basic how-to's while girls hike, swim and canoe. NU2U also offers archery, fire building, outdoor cooking, cool crafts and warm s'mores!

We've planned TWO programs: January 6-7, 2018 for Brownie and Junior Troops and March 3-4, 2018 for Junior and Cadette Troops. NU2U is designed for Troops and Leaders who are ready to take the first "steps" into the amazing world of camp, yet have little or no camping experience.

Troop leaders will provide adult to girl ratio. The troop camp trained (TCT), First Aid certified adult, lifeguard, and canoe and archery instructors are provided. Lunch, snacks and dinner (Saturday) and breakfast and lunch (Sunday) are all included. Accommodations are in cabin units. Packing list and confirmation packets will be sent via email a week prior to the program.

NU2U requires female chaperones only. Troop Leaders are expected to provide adult to girl ratio. Refer to Volunteer Essentials Manual for information about ratios. Space is limited for this program! Adults will be limited to satisfy ratios so we can serve as many girls as possible. Cost is $30.00 per girl and $20.00 per adult.

Troop Camp Training (TCT): December 16 and 17
Love camping? Or want to try it for the first time? Do you want to go camping with your troop? Then TCT is for YOU!
Completion of Troop Camp Training (TCT) is required for one volunteer in your troop in order for your troop to go camping. This training is designed to help Girl Scout volunteers prepare themselves and the girls they work with to enjoy outdoor experiences together. Training will introduce progression in the out-of-doors, review camp facilities and provide basic skills for outdoor program. Fire building, outdoor cooking techniques, safety issues, camp rules and regulations are reviewed, too.

This skills-focused training involves one overnight on camp property. Registration is open to registered volunteers only. No girl members or tagalongs are permitted.

For additional information and to register, visit the Activities Listings here. Space is limited, so be sure to register today.

Calling all active members or veterans of our armed forces - and their families. Have you ever received Girl Scout cookies while you were deployed either domestically or overseas? Or did you receive cookies while at the VA or through other veteran outreach programs? If so, we'd love to hear from you. As we countdown to the kick-off of our annual Cookies for the Military program, we'd love to feature you in our campaign and thank you for your service. We want our donors to know that cookies really are delivered far and wide, and that even the small things can make a difference. Help us reach our biggest goal to date of 70,000 boxes of cookies sent. Please send your name and contact information to Melinda Glasco at mglasco@gssef.org if you are interested in being featured.
