Stewardship 2018 Kickoff
Potluck after Worship Sunday, October 8, UPC Great Hall
During this 500 th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation and the 125 th year of University Presbyterian Church, we are encouraged by our history and look forward to an exciting future. With worship at the center of our church activities, we continue to grow the mission, service, and discipleship at UPC through the grace of God and through your service and faithfulness.

Please plan to bring a dish to share on Sunday and help us kick off the 2018 Stewardship season as we begin writing the next chapter in the story of UPC's service to Christ in this place.
Call for Volunteers
This Sunday
The Stewardship Committee needs help with the potluck on Sunday, setting up tables and chairs in the Great Hall before worship. After the potluck, the chairs and tables will need to be stored so that the Great Hall is ready for UPLift volunteers to set up for Tuesday.

If you can help either before or after the potluck, please contact Sarah French at [email protected].
Thanks!
Welcome, New Members!
Sunday, October 1, Session welcomed three new members to UPC.

Sarah Fife joins by transfer of membership from Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas. She came to Austin as a UT student. She participated in UKirk while a student, and has been active in the Young Adult Ministry since graduating in May 2016. Sarah is an actuarial analyst.

Elizabeth Kay Marshall joins by profession of faith. She is a senior at UT, in the process of applying to advanced degree programs in Occupational Therapy. She dreams of being a pediatric occupational therapist to combine her passions of special needs kids and science. "I decided to join UPC because I agree with what is said and feel God's spirit in the sermons and community here."

Pamela (Pam) Brubaker joins by reaffirmation of faith. Formerly a member of Gratis Church in Ohio, Pam is a retired professor. She has previously been a Sunday School teacher and served on multiple committees and ministries.
Be sure to say hello to our newest members on Sunday!

Interested in a Harvey Recovery
Mission Trip?
Because so many communities are still in the relief stage, is has been too soon for recovery volunteers to help rebuild. But soon enough, we'll have more details regarding dates, times, and locations. The Presbytery will let us know as soon as our help will be most productive. If you would like to be on a UPC list of potential volunteers for Harvey cleanup, please email Craig Deats at [email protected] .

The Mission of Faith & Grief Ministries is to provide ongoing comfort t o persons who have experienced the death of a loved one. As we prayerfully discern our mission, we value most the gifts of the Holy Spirit’s gentle and restless source of comfort; community that understands grief and mourning; compassion revealed in silence, listening, tears, and surprising laughter; stories that speak truth in love and promote wholeness; and collaboration that joins strength to strength.

The Austin area Faith & Grief Gathering occurs October 12 at noon, Westminster Presbyterian Church. For more information, go to www.faithandgrief.org .

Church Women United in Austin will meet Friday, October 6, 2017, at 9:30 a.m., Crestview United Methodist Church , 1300 Morrow Street. You are invited to help us “Kindle New Fires of Hope” and witness the presentation of our Human Rights Award recipient. We “HOPE” to see you there.
