Join Us for Worship at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday!

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Message: "The Solas: Sola Scriptura"

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Tempus Fugit - Time Flies

This week we've revisited a series of open and gracious conversations called "Listening is an Act of Love" first hosted by Pastor Lawrence one year ago.

All are welcome to join him this afternoon at the Quarter Barrel at 4:30 p.m.  Come late, leave early, or linger in conversation.
500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation
This Sunday we begin a four-week worship series on the living legacy of the Reformation 500 years after it began in October 1517.  Featured in worship throughout the month will be many of the cherished hymns you offered as suggestions over the last several weeks.  Thank you!  Your voice is vital in our congregational vision to become a more joyful, passionate, spiritually vibrant and inter-generational community of faith.

Discover Oxford Presbyterian Church -
A Class for Inquirers and New Members
In a world where people yearn to know and be known, to love and be loved, Oxford Presbyterian Church (OPC) offers such a community of faith.  If you have been visiting OPC or worshipping with us regularly, then you're warmly welcomed to join our Discover OPC Class for Inquirers and New Members in the lounge after worship on Sundays, October 8 and 15.

In addition to full membership open to all adults, university students are encouraged to consider affiliate membership in OPC.  As an affiliate member of OPC, you remain in good standing with your home congregation while still expressing your commitment to our fellowship as you study at Miami.  To learn more, please talk with Pastor Lawrence or contact him at the church office.  Long-time Christians and seekers in the Christian faith are welcome!
Rummage Thanks

We changed but YOU didn't change your support! Holding a rummage sale is a team project, and wow did the team come through.  Thank you to all who donated, set up the sales room and displays, priced, advertised, helped on sale days, folded up and put away. Once again, The Seminary looks like it normally does, with not a sign that a successful Fall Rummage Sale took place there. But, many folks now have new treasures, all at remarkably affordable prices and OPW has $2282.60 to add to our mission support!  Thank you all.
Church Services at The Knolls
If you've missed any of our recent church services you now have a chance to see one in the Country Kitchen.  We will be viewing them (via DVD) on Tuesdays, Oct. 10 at 10:00 A.M.  All are welcome, and if anyone needs a ride, Becky Quay would be glad to pick you up.  Just call Becky at 523-5747.

On Sunday, October 15, OPC's youth will attend a special outing at the Freedom Summer Memorial on Miami's Western Campus. They will be listening to Mrs. Sibyl Miller and her friend as they recount their experiences recruiting and registering voters during the Freedom Summer of 1964. We will eat lunch in town at noon (location TBA) and head out to Western immediately afterwards. The talk will occur around 1:00 p.m.

Sunday, October 29, 2017 after church service will be the first youth mission trip fundraiser.  Buy your ticket on Sunday for this luncheon in The Seminary on 10/29.

Please sign up in the Molyneaux Lounge after service if you would like to volunteer a dish or contact Mary Shinn,  513-523 2662 or  [email protected] .

New CMS System
OPC is installing a new Church Management System. A CMS maintains records of people, their relationships (e.g. families), and giving and pledging information. We decided to change to reduce the cost of maintenance, improve staff efficiency with a more modern design, and potentially offer new features and options once we have built a firm understanding of how the system operates.

In the short term very few people with notice any changes. The new system requires full birthdates so some people will be contacted to update this info. Folks participating in electronic giving may be contacted to update records. We will not release the old CMS until we have rigorously audited giving records, and certified the people database.

If you notice any anomalies, please contact Bridgite, or Mary Martin on financial issues. You will receive an updated giving record around October 15th. If you have general questions about the selection process or the history that motivated the change, contact Joe Simpson ( [email protected] ).
In the Church Library
The October/November edition of Presbyterians Today offers multiple stories "intended to foster a greater degree of understanding and conversation about race within our congregations and other worshiping communities, so that we may truly bear the message of reconciliation to a world torn apart by racial injustice."  Next time you're in the church library, take a moment to read any of the feature articles written by brothers and sister in the body of Christ.
Every Time I Feel the Spirit ...
Miami University Gospel Singers (MUGS) will present a gospel concert tomorrow, October 7th, 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church.  Faith Lutheran is located at 420 S Campus Ave across from the Miami University Student Health Center.
Missing Wicker Basket
A small wicker basket has been on the shelf above the coat racks across from the church offices for years.   It contained the deacon wedding hostess supplies (pins, tape, band-aids, etc.)   It is missing, and it would be helpful to have it returned before the next wedding, October 14th.
