to learn more about this project and to hear from three hepatitis B patients who bravely tell their stories to decrease stigma and discrimination and promote testing, immunization and treatment. Learn how you can support and spread the word about this project and how you might incorporate some of the components into your own hepatitis B and/or hepatitis C programs.

National Task Force on Hepatitis B Call for Nominations
|
|
|
The National Task Force on Hepatitis B Focus on Asian and Pacific Islander Americans is a volunteer-based national coalition that convenes 5 teleconferences and 1 face-to-face meeting each year with not-for-profit organizations, health care providers, and researchers across the United States that have a focus on providing outreach, education, screening, and/or linkage to care for patients who may be at-risk for hepatitis B and/or C.
The Task Force has been providing a continuing medical education (CME) team-based training to providers and their staff, as well as community leaders and other health care workers, in the
geographical areas where they serve. This in-person
Health Education for Liver Providers (H.E.L.P.)
training program model allows participants to share and discuss best practices and lessons learned after receiving core knowledge training about hepatitis B and C. Core knowledge training is based on CDC guidelines on hepatitis B and C. This team-based training program model has been approved by CDC and accredited by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

National Task Force on Hepatitis B CME Trainings

|
Over 100 people have attended the Task Force's Health Education for Liver Providers (H.E.L.P.) CME Team-based Training Program since March 2017! With the help and coordination of our Regional Directors, trainings have already been offered (with positive feedback) in the Washington, DC area, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, and Seattle, WA. With only 3 more sites left this year, the
National Task Force on Hepatitis B
is excited to report the growing number of providers and staff expressing interest for program expansion in 2018. Training is FREE, but
registration is required for attendance
.
This
CME program has been accredited by the American Academy of Family Physicians for up to 3.25 CME credits.

American Liver Foundation's Pacific Coast Division
to bring the
Ask the Experts: Liver Wellness Conference
on
November 11, 2017
at the John A Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu. The conference will provide information on the latest treatments and research breakthroughs from some of Hawaii’s leading liver specialists. Topics that will be covered include: Hepatitis A, B and C; HIV/HCV Co-infection, Alcoholic Hepatitis; Nonalcoholic Liver Disease (NAFLD), Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) and Liver Cancer. The morning session will be open to all community members, especially patients and caregivers. The afternoon session will be open to medical providers, and CMEs will be available.
