"Inspiring students to love God, their Catholic faith and learning."
News from Mrs. Trachsel
Everyone did an awesome job bringing in food for the Samaritan Center! Although we did not come out as having the most per pound per student, we did bring in more pounds than last year. I am proud to say that we brought in 13,395 pounds of food. This is truly amazing.  Last year we brought in around 10,000lbs.

I told the students today that because we brought in more food than last year by 3,395 pounds, students may dress down next week  October 9th through the 13th. I am really proud of their efforts. They worked really hard and I want to thank all of you for your support!

Demolition of Selinger cafeteria will begin this week, and will last for approximately 3 weeks. The workers will be sending the debris into the alley into their dump trailer. They will be moving several times each day to dump the debris.  We are asking, for student safety, that you NOT drop off or pick up in front of church. DO NOT send children down the alley while this is happening. The workers will be starting at  6:30am each day. The project manager will keep us updated as to completion date.
Incoming Kindergarten Students 2018-19
Important: We are having a information meeting on Tuesday, October 19th in the school cafeteria beginning at 6:00 p.m. Please enter through the glass doors in the back of the school cafeteria; off the lower playground and up the stairs. You will have the opportunity to meet the teachers, administrators, and fellow parents; and gain a better understanding about our kindergarten program here at St. Peter. We ask that you do bring your child/ren to the parent meeting to visit the classrooms.
We have also mailed letters home with additional information regarding the meeting. We look forward to sharing the St. Peter School experience with you.
Reminders from Mr. Veit
Uniform Orders:
The manufacturer of the sweatshirts has discontinued light blue and white. Rather than have our distributor seek out another manufacturer, we will refund any current orders for these items and will no longer order them. We will sell the ones we have left so they will remain on the order form but only in the in-stock sizes, so St. Peter sweatshirts will only be available to order in NAVY.
November 3rd is the next deadline for ordering
out-of-stock uniform items or Spirit wear.
Volleyball Spirit Night:
Come and support our 8th grade volleyball girls as they play their last home game at SPS on Thursday, October 12 in MLG. 8th grade JV play at 6:00pm, 8th grade Varsity play at 7:00pm, and 7th grade Varsity play at 8:00pm. Anyone in SPIRIT WEAR get in FREE!
Dress Code:
Even on dress down days:
Shoes must have a closed heel and toe and be suitable for outdoor play.
Reminders from the Office
When your child is absent from school please call or email the office before 8:00 am on the day he/she are absent. Email is listed below for office personnel.

A Lunch Option Students will not receive an invoice for lunch fees due. You will pay the $42.00 per month or you may choose to pay all the fee up front or half now and half in January. If you are looking at the parent portal this option for amount due is not under the lunch icon; it is under fines and fees. Any students who eat extra a la carte items will receive an invoice for those purchases only to be paid separately from the $42.00 per month.

B Lunch Option Students will receive an invoice after the end of the month for lunch fees due. Please pay this amount by the following Monday after you receive this invoice. You can see the balance for this lunch option under the lunch icon on parent portal. Please feel free to call Kelley in the school office with any questions.
Second Grade Parents
Second Grade is when many children are about 8 years old- what the church recognizes as the "age of reason". Therefore, without delay, we welcome young Catholics to the Table of the Lord, the Eucharist. That means it's time for their First Communion.

The first mandatory meeting regarding the Sacrament of Penance will be Wednesday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the church.

The second mandatory meeting regarding the Sacrament of Eucharist will be Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m., hopefully in the Selinger cafeteria.

I look forward to these meetings,
Rev. Charles Pardee

Bullying Workshop
Bullying Workshop Free

New York Times bestselling author, survivor, and celebrated anti-bullying activist Jodee Blanco will be giving a free seminar open to the public on school bullying survival and prevention sponsored by St. Stanislaus School on  Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the school gym.

The seminar will include a 90-minute workshop featuring Jodee's compelling personal story of her struggle from fifth grade through high school as the target of severe school bullying.  She will share what her parents and teachers did that helped, what didn't and why, as well as offer similar insights from the tens of thousands of bullied students she has worked with across the nation.

The workshop will also include specific, practical advice on how to intervene if a child is the victim, bully or bystander, from the rare point of view of someone who's actually lived through it and now has dedicated her life to helping others.  In addition, Jodee will address the plight of the "adult survivor of peer abuse" and offer suggestions on how to overcome those open wounds from the past.

We have also teamed up with St. Stanislaus and Jodee Blanco will be coming to St. Peter to spend some time with our students and share her story and give suggestions and tips for bullying.

Scrip/Fundraising
Toys R US has filed bankruptcy. If you have any of these gift cards, Great Lakes advises us to use them as soon as possible as many of their stores are scheduled to close.
Red Lobster now has its own gift card that can only be used at Red Lobster. Darden Restaurants sold Red Lobster several months ago. They will still come as $25 cards with an 8% discount as before.
New Darden Restaurants gift cards with the same 8% rebate are redeemable at the following locations: Bahama Breeze®, LongHorn Steakhouse®, Olive Garden®, Yard House Restaurants, Seasons 52®, and Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen.
You may have Darden Restaurants gift cards with the Red Lobster logo on them.  These are still redeemable at any of the restaurants shown on the card including Red Lobster locations.
The Butter Braid Frozen Pastry Fundraiser ends next Friday, October 13. Orders MUST be turned in NO later than Monday, October 16. The order must be processed in a timely manner so it will be ready for our scheduled pick up day on Wednesday, October 25. This product is FROZEN and must be picked up on the scheduled pick up date. The school does NOT have storage for product not picked up.

The Fall Gift Fundraiser pick up will be on Wednesday, October 18, from 3-5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

If any 6 th, 7 th, or 8 th graders would like to help with either of these fund raiser pick ups for service hours, it would be greatly appreciated. Just let me know. It would be 2 ½ hours and would include helping to locate orders and giving them to parents. There will be down time in which they could do homework.

Scrip will be available on a limited basis the week of November 6. We do not have school that Monday and I will be out of town on Thursday and Friday. Please send your orders in on Tuesday. I plan to order in some of the more popular cards the week before so I will have them in stock. If I cannot complete your order, I will send what I have and order the rest for the next week.

Scrip will NOT be available the week of Thanksgiving.
