     Welcome to a new season---Fall!  With Fall comes cool weather, transformation and change. Try something new in your life. Schedule more time with family and friends, take long walks, read that book you have been meaning to read, try new recipes and make some changes in your yoga too. 
At Liberty Yoga we have wonderful offerings just for you to help you to grow, be flexible and strong, learn, relax, find peace and improve yourself in all areas. We invite you with open arms to join us for all of the changes you would like to make this Fall.

 A special Workshop and regular classes for those managing the emotional pains of loving someone with mental health, substance use disorder or trauma or any other emotionally painful situations.

BeachOur First Liberty Yoga Beach Retreat was a success!
Our group of 14 had a wonderful fun and relaxing time. 
Here are the highlights 
 
Paddleboard yoga, wonderful meals freshly prepared by catered chef Sharliena and her mom, Morning Meditation and Yoga on the beach, Christine and Tom renewed their wedding vows, walks on the boardwalk & shopping, Therapeutic Yoga with Erin at Dimitra Yoga studio, Aerial Yoga class, Games and laughter, great conversation, relaxation and nap time, Lunch together at The Summer House on the last day

This Workshop is being held to help refine the YES program in its developmental stage. Your attendance and feedback will be paramount in helping us to develop the best YES classes and to insure everyone is receiving beneficial tools & techniques. Be the first to experience YES!

Class Format:

  • 30 minutes: Winden Rowe, licensed therapist specializing in Trauma, Substance use and addiction will speak about the brain(mind)/ body connection and how movement, breathing and visualization is necessary to relieve emotional pain.

  • 75-90 minutes: A YES Class with Christine Shaw filled with relaxation, breathing, meditation, positive self care techniques and more.

  • 15-20 minutes: Class fills out a 10 Question Feedback Questionnaire so we may refine and improve on the classes.

     I f you are a Yoga teacher interested in sharing your time and talents and care for others then the YES Training course is for you. The purpose of YES is to help as many people as possible, through Yoga, meditation and many other tools to find health and happiness in their lives.

As a teacher of YES Classes you will provide the participants a safe space to relax and let go. Through the specially designed Class format & class messages of self care and nurturing, with the use of numerous proven tools, you will help students to feel empowered to take care of themselves when faced with difficult emotional situations.

Pose of the Month
Utthita Hasta Padasana
Extended Star 
    

Lengthen the spine evenly, reach the wrists away to evenly stretch chest and back, feet parallel, engage quads and glutes. This pose is an excellent pose to use to move into open hip standing poses such as warrior II, triangle, and extended side angle OR it can be used just before hinging at the hips to fold into wide-legged forward fold.

Why MELT?  
This is a gentle and pleasant self acupressure technique.  It relieves "stuck stress" in the body that comes with repetitive movements or working in a desk job.  It is one of the most effective ways to gently relieve chronic pain and to improve posture!

Field Peas and Corn Salad

Mike went to the farmer's market this past Saturday with a short list - mushrooms, berries, and surprise me.  To my utter astonishment he came home with field peas (I was hoping for fresh cut flowers but, hey, peas are awesome).  We've probably all had them at some point, but have you ever cooked them?  I hadn't.  It was SO easy. 

First, I shucked  them.  Then I boiled them in veggie broth for 15 minutes. This made them pretty starchy and I love them that way.  If you want a crisper pea, you can blanch them for five minutes and then cool them imediately; I think I'll try that next time.  

I happened to have two ears of fresh grilled corn in my fridge so I cut off the kernals and used that as well.  The ingredients are below.  I just tossed them all together.  Enjoy on a bed of lettuce!


Ingredients:

2 Ears Fresh Grilled Corn of the Cob
1 Cup Field Peas, cooked and cooled
1/2 sweet union, diced
5 Roma Garden fresh summer tomatoes
Two Carrots, Chopped
1 small crisp green apple
French Vinagrette to Taste
Salt and Pepper to taste
fresh rosemarry, chopped
fresh thyme, chopped
fresh sage, chopped
A dash of agave
