St. Francis Sunday: Blessing of the Animals, October 1, 2017 |
A motley assortment of animals and the people who love them gathered in front of Trinity Church on Sunday, October 1, 2017, for the annual Blessing of the Animals. In honor and remembrance of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, this event celebrates the deep bond we share with our animal companions, and holds out hope for harmony with all living things.
We invite you to take a few minutes and enjoy some of our favorite photographs from the blessing. The slideshow is set to a portion of the evocative anthem "The Beatitudes," composed by Arvo Pärt and sung by the Trinity Choirs on their "Songs of Light" album. As our country processes the tragedies of the past week, may the small moments of joy captured here be signs for us of God's continuous and tender care for all living things.
We'll see you in church!
