E-Arkive The Electronic Newsletter for Ark and Dove

All are welcome! This Sunday is the 23rd Sunday after Pentecost!
Come rejoice at both the 9:30 am and 11:00 am worship services!

EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT PRELUDE!

For the past month you have been hearing from our Session about the hopes and dreams for their Ministries through Minutes for Prelude, our Stewardship campaign to start the next 25 years of Ark and Dove.  For those who missed a service, or for those who want to refresh their understanding of the ministries supported here at Ark and Dove, we have also mailed out a brochure on Prelude to the household of every member and friend of Ark and Dove this week. We hope that you prayerfully review what is contained in this brochure and show your support for the church by returning the pledge card that was included on Dedication Sunday, November 19th.

We also need to note an error. In the brochure's final printing, the report from the Facilities Ministry was accidentally deleted, while the report from the Administrator Ministry was repeated.  Our apologies for any confusion this may have caused! Below, please find Elder Rob Yeager's plans for Facilities Ministry. Thank you!

A MESSAGE FROM THE FACILITIES MINISTRY

FACILITIES MINISTRY
MINISTRY GOAL: $130,000

Ark and Dove is a hub of activity for both our congregation and the community.  Our building hosts a wide range of events including Logos, choir and band practices, private music lessons, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, community association meetings, Alcoholics Anonymous, Al Anon and world class recitals. In order to host such activities, it takes a lot of work to maintain our building and our property.  While much of the minor repair and maintenance work is done by volunteers from the congregation, we pay for services such as weekly building cleaning, trash removal and mowing.  Your support of the Facilities Ministry pays for such things as: mortgages, electricity and water, HVAC maintenance and repair, grass mowing and snow removal, floor waxing and carpet cleaning, trash and recycling removal and weekly building cleaning

As Ark and Dove moves into the future, with more groups requesting use of our facility, we hope to continue sharing our resources with our community. In order to do that, the Facilities Ministry not only needs continued support to repair and replace aging infrastructure, but additional support to tackle larger dreams such as part time maintenance staff, year-round grounds maintenance and landscaping, or even a new parking lot. The time, talents and money that you are able to share with the Facilities Ministry will enable us to continue offering a welcoming home to our community.

VERSE AND PRAYER

For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. - I Thessalonians 4:14

Household Prayer: Morning

Creator of all, I awake to the day you have made
with praise on my lips,
for your Spirit gives me breath.
May I live this day for the sake of Jesus,
the light of the world,
the apple of my eye,
my beginning and end. Amen.

Household Prayer: Evening

Creator of all, you make the night
for peace and rest.
In the moon and stars we see the reflection
of your eternal light,
so whether we live or whether we die,
we know that we belong to you.
Keep watch over those who work through the night;
give peace to those who cannot sleep.
Let me surrender all anxiety and fear
to your loving embrace,
that I may awake to serve you with joy. Amen.

Many opportunities await you!

N TES FOR YOU

Join us this Sunday as our Adult Choir and Joyful Noise youth choir lead us in our offertory at 9:30. The next time you hear the kids sing in worship will be December 17th at 11:00 for their Christmas Pageant, The Grumpy Shepherd. You will not want to miss it! It's not too late to have your child be a part of the chorus. If they are interested in being a part of it, please let me know!

Light to All!

SHARE THE LIGHT!
No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. -Matthew 5:15

In these stressful times, there's nothing more crucial than sharing the light--with each other and with our community! And there's no means more effective than pictures. Help us share the light of our church home, and in the process brighten everyone's path, by becoming Ark and Dove's church photographer! Like to learn more? Please contact admin@arkanddove.org.
