MONDAY MEMO
Kindergartener Raya and 6th grader Maaike traced their hands to create turkeys as part of a buddy activity in Assembly last week.
Greetings!

This is the last week before Thanksgiving Vacation. Remember that Friday is Community Service Day, during which we would appreciate parent help, and there will be an early dismissal from the rink at 1:30 pm.
Happy Monday,
Nelia
NOTES

FOOD SHELF DONATIONS
The Student Council is collecting donations for the Lyndon Food Shelf. Please engage your child in talking about what they might like to share from your own pantries or the next shopping trip. Non-perishables and traditional Thanksgiving items would be most appreciated.  The donation box is on the porch outside of the Cubby Room/Carriage House classroom.

PARENT ADVISORY GROUP
The Parent Advisory Group is meeting this Thursday evening at 5:00 pm. There will be a light dinner and childcare. The Agenda will include a review of logistics for upcoming events; school policies on skating and skiing; and an overview of this year's Riverside Pride curriculum. Remember that all parents are welcome to attend this meeting.
COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
This Friday, November 17 students will be working in mixed age groups in service of others. The theme of the day will be "Many Hands Make Light Work." We rely on the assistance of parent volunteers for the day to be effective. Please let Nelia know if you can help to supervise and/or transport students.

PreK-3rd graders will participate in a rotation of activities that involve decorating the trays for H.O.P.E.'s Thanksgiving meal deliveries and visiting The Pines to deliver Thanksgiving cards. Older students will share their preferences this week for visiting the Riverside Life Enrichment Center; baking pies for the Darling Inn Thanksgiving Meal; baking pumpkin bread, decorating bags, or sorting supplies for the Lyndon Food Shelf; or crafting Holiday Cards for soldiers abroad.

We will go skating, and then there will be an early dismissal from the ice rink at 1:30 pm for Thanksgiving Vacation. Please let us know in advance if you anticipate needing the After School Program this Friday so that we can plan accordingly.
SKATING
K-8th graders will be skating again this Friday after completing service projects and before our early dismissal. Please remember to pack the necessary gear (long sleeves, hat, mittens or gloves, optional helmet) and to pick up at the Fenton Chester Arena at 1:30 . Skates can be rented, and the cost will be charged to your school store account. Please make sure that students who rent know their shoe size. $5 cash is required for sharpening skates; we learned of a change in this system last week .
GRANDPARENTS’ DAY
Invitations for our annual Grandparents’ Day were sent to all those whose names and addresses we have in our database. Please encourage Riverside grandparents to join us for any portion of Monday, November 28 to participate in classes, tour the school, enjoy a lunch with Head of School Michelle Ralston, and more. Please do RSVP to Krystal by calling us at 802-626-8552.
WINTER FINE ARTS NIGHT & CONCERT
December 7th at 6:30 is Winter Fine Arts Night and concert in the barn! Students in Preschool-8th grade have been preparing with Suzanne and Lydia all semester to show off their studio artwork and to perform various musical pieces for you. All 2-8th graders should arrive at 6:00 that night, 30 minutes before the concert, for a warm up in the yurt before returning to their seats in the barn. Preschool-1st graders should arrive by 6:20 and sit with their parents in the audience. All students should wear the appropriate performance clothing for a concert, that means no jeans, t-shirts, or sneakers. We are all looking forward to sharing our hard work with you!
BASKETBALL
The Good Shepherd School is looking for additional players for their 5-6th basketball grade team. Most of the current players are boys, although there is one girl and the coach would welcome more. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00. Interested families should get in touch with Lynn Cartularo at lcartularo@goodshepherdschoolvt.org.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2017
The Riverside School will be participating in the worldwide fundraising effort of Giving Tuesday to raise money to support our Annual Fund. Join millions of people throughout the world as they donate online to their favorite non-profit organizations. Look for our email on this important day and we thank you in advance for your support or you can click the link below to donate online today! It is not the size of the gift but the act of giving that matters!
