Using the annual lectionary as his guide, Christian Piatt has put together a devotional,
"Surviving the Bible: A Devotional for the Church Year 2018," that encourages us to read through the major parts of the Old and New Testaments and finally understand them in plain English. Each weekly devotion has several Scripture readings, explanations of confusing terms, a story, a deeper dive into interesting themes, and a closing prayer. The author says "There is no wrong way to use this resource. Start anywhere, set it down, come back to it, over and over. Just open it, grab a Bible and take a bite."
