CHECK OUT THESE NEW RESOURCES
Using the annual lectionary as his guide, Christian Piatt has put together a devotional,
"Surviving the Bible: A Devotional for the Church Year 2018," that encourages us to read through the major parts of the Old and New Testaments and finally understand them in plain English. Each weekly devotion has several Scripture readings, explanations of confusing terms, a story, a deeper dive into interesting themes, and a closing prayer. The author says "There is no wrong way to use this resource. Start anywhere, set it down, come back to it, over and over. Just open it, grab a Bible and take a bite."
You can check this out from the Resource Center, or order your own copy through Augsburg Fortress. Or, if we order 11 or more copies we can get 50% off (lowering the price to $9.49/each)! If you are interested in this option,
please email me, and we will get a big order together from YOUR Resource Center! To do our best and get these to you by December,
please contact me BEFORE Thanksgiving
! Thanks!
I will plan to place an order on Wednesday, November 22. They may arrive to you a bit late, but I can always send a PDF of the first and second devotions if you've paid for it.

"
Martin Luther's Christmas Book,"
edited by Roland H. Bainton is also avai
lable to you through your Synod Resource Center. "This inspiring coll
ection contains thirty excerpts from Martin Luther's Christmas sermons. In his unique and powerful voice, Luther portrays the human reality of God's birth on earth - Mary's distress at giving birth with no midwife or water, Joseph's misgivings, the Wise Men's perplexity, Herod's cunning. And through these sermon-meditations, Martin Luther reminds us that keeping Christmas is a year-round mission of caring for those in need.
